Stop.
And acquaint yourself with the Companions, the scholars, and the eminent figures.
A new challenge: who am I?
I am one of the Companions from the Ansar.
From the Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal.
Those whom the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, praised by saying:
The best of the homes are the homes of the Ansar.
Ibn al-Najjar
Then [the tribe of] Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal.
I entered Paradise without having ever performed a single prostration to Allah.
During the pre-Islamic period, I used to engage in usury with people.
I possessed a great deal of wealth derived from usury.
My people used to present Islam to me.
And so, it prevents me from entering into it.
For fear that my wealth might be lost.
Then, when the Battle of Uhud took place,
Allah cast the light of Islam into his heart.
So I came to ask about my cousins.
And from some people of my tribe
Then it was said to me
They went out to fight the polytheists at Uhud.
So I donned my armor and mounted my horse.
Then he went out to fight.
Some of the Muslims saw me.
They said, "Leave us be."
So I said
I have truly believed in Allah.
Then I fought until my wounds left me incapacitated.
And I was on the verge of death.
So they carried me back to my people.
The Banu 'Abd al-Ashhal
So ask me about the reason for my coming.
Is it out of tribal zeal for my people?
Or is it out of anger for the sake of Allah and His Messenger?
So I said
Rather, he became angry for the sake of Allah and His Messenger.
Then my soul overflowed.
And I have not performed a single prayer for the sake of Allah.
So they mentioned my situation to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
He said, "He is indeed among the people of Paradise."
So, who am I?
