00:00:00.460 --> 00:00:08.619
Stories of the Prophets, stories of the Prophets, peace be upon them.

00:00:08.619 --> 00:00:13.679
May Allah's blessings be followed by peace,

00:00:13.679 --> 00:00:17.679
Upon the best of all creation.

00:00:17.679 --> 00:00:23.260
The resolute Messengers hold a exalted status.

00:00:23.260 --> 00:00:29.539
The story of Joseph, peace be upon him.

00:00:29.539 --> 00:00:33.719
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

00:00:33.719 --> 00:00:36.909
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds,

00:00:36.909 --> 00:00:39.909
And blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad,

00:00:39.909 --> 00:00:43.909
And upon his family and all his Companions.

00:00:43.909 --> 00:00:45.909
To proceed:

00:00:45.909 --> 00:00:51.070
Devastating news continued to fall upon the Prophet of Allah, Jacob, peace be upon him.

00:00:51.070 --> 00:00:55.299
After losing the apple of his eye, Joseph,

00:00:55.299 --> 00:00:59.299
Here he was now, losing his other son, Benjamin,

00:00:59.299 --> 00:01:01.299
Under similar circumstances.

00:01:01.299 --> 00:01:04.299
And the accused party in both instances was the same.

00:01:04.299 --> 00:01:08.299
They had taken Joseph and claimed a wolf ate him,

00:01:08.299 --> 00:01:11.329
And then they took his brother, Benjamin,

00:01:11.329 --> 00:01:13.329
Claiming he had committed theft.

00:01:13.329 --> 00:01:18.420
Meanwhile, the eldest son refused to return to his father.

00:01:18.420 --> 00:01:21.650
Jacob's condition was just as the poet described:

00:01:21.650 --> 00:01:25.780
"Had it been a single arrow, I would have shielded myself,

00:01:25.780 --> 00:01:29.780
But it is a second arrow, and a third."

00:01:29.780 --> 00:01:34.480
The grief-stricken father had no choice but to show patience—

00:01:34.480 --> 00:01:36.510
A beautiful patience,

00:01:36.510 --> 00:01:41.510
Free of complaint or lamentation except to the Creator,

00:01:41.510 --> 00:01:45.579
For He alone is able to restore all his sons to him,

00:01:45.579 --> 00:01:50.579
And He is All-Knowing of his condition, All-Wise in His decree.

00:01:50.579 --> 00:01:54.959
Jacob, peace be upon him, stood up from among his sons,

00:01:54.959 --> 00:01:57.959
His deep wounds freshly reopened,

00:01:57.959 --> 00:02:01.959
And said, lamenting over Joseph, peace be upon him:

00:02:01.959 --> 00:02:04.959
"O my grief for Joseph!"

00:02:04.959 --> 00:02:08.219
The light left his eyes,

00:02:08.219 --> 00:02:12.219
And they turned white with sorrow for Joseph, his beloved heart.

00:02:12.219 --> 00:02:15.729
His sons said to him:

00:02:15.729 --> 00:02:20.729
"By Allah, father! You will not stop remembering Joseph at all times,

00:02:20.729 --> 00:02:24.729
Until you become severely frail and consumed by illness,

00:02:24.729 --> 00:02:27.729
Or become among those who perish!"

00:02:27.729 --> 00:02:29.729
"So spare yourself!"

00:02:29.729 --> 00:02:32.729
He replied to them in reproach:

00:02:32.729 --> 00:02:35.729
"You do not know what I know,

00:02:35.729 --> 00:02:38.729
So do not blame me.

00:02:38.729 --> 00:02:41.729
I am not complaining of my state to you,

00:02:41.729 --> 00:02:45.729
For my Lord knows best my condition and my plea.

00:02:45.729 --> 00:02:48.729
I only complain of my anguish and sorrow to Him,

00:02:48.729 --> 00:02:52.819
And He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."

00:02:52.819 --> 00:02:55.819
Then Jacob, peace be upon him, said to his sons:

00:02:55.819 --> 00:02:57.819
"O my sons,

00:02:57.819 --> 00:03:01.819
I truly sense that Joseph is still alive.

00:03:01.819 --> 00:03:05.819
Go and inquire about him and his brother,

00:03:05.819 --> 00:03:08.819
And strive your utmost in searching for them both,

00:03:08.819 --> 00:03:11.819
“Go, O my sons, and ascertain concerning Joseph and his brother, and despair not of the Spirit of Allah. Lo! none despaireth of the Spirit of Allah save disbelieving folk.” (12:87)

00:03:11.819 --> 00:03:14.849
For none despairs of Allah's mercy

00:03:14.849 --> 00:03:18.389
Except the disbelieving people."

00:03:18.389 --> 00:03:20.550
Allah Almighty says:

00:03:20.550 --> 00:03:23.550
﴿And he turned away from them and said, "O my grief over Joseph!"﴾

00:03:23.550 --> 00:03:26.550
“And he turned away from them and said: Alas, my grief for Joseph! And his eyes were whitened with the sorrow that he was suppressing.” (12:84)

00:03:26.550 --> 00:03:29.550
“And he turned away from them and said: Alas, my grief for Joseph! And his eyes were whitened with the sorrow that he was suppressing.” (12:84)

00:03:29.550 --> 00:03:32.550
﴿And his eyes became white on account of the grief,﴾

00:03:32.550 --> 00:03:35.550
﴿For he was suppressing his sorrow.﴾

00:03:35.550 --> 00:03:39.550
“They said: By Allah, thou wilt never cease remembering Joseph till thy health is ruined or thou art of those who perish!” (12:85)

00:03:39.550 --> 00:03:41.550
﴿Until you become critically ill,﴾

00:03:41.550 --> 00:03:45.550
“They said: By Allah, thou wilt never cease remembering Joseph till thy health is ruined or thou art of those who perish!” (12:85)

00:03:45.550 --> 00:03:49.550
“He said: I expose my distress and anguish only unto Allah, and I know from Allah that which ye know not.” (12:86)

00:03:49.550 --> 00:03:51.550
﴿"I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah,﴾

00:03:51.550 --> 00:03:53.550
﴿And I know from Allah﴾

00:03:53.550 --> 00:03:56.550
﴿That which you do not know.﴾

00:03:56.550 --> 00:03:58.550
﴿O my sons, go﴾

00:03:58.550 --> 00:04:02.550
“Go, O my sons, and ascertain concerning Joseph and his brother, and despair not of the Spirit of Allah. Lo! none despaireth of the Spirit of Allah save disbelieving folk.” (12:87)

00:04:02.550 --> 00:04:04.550
﴿And do not despair﴾

00:04:04.550 --> 00:04:09.550
“Go, O my sons, and ascertain concerning Joseph and his brother, and despair not of the Spirit of Allah. Lo! none despaireth of the Spirit of Allah save disbelieving folk.” (12:87)

00:04:09.550 --> 00:04:14.449
“Go, O my sons, and ascertain concerning Joseph and his brother, and despair not of the Spirit of Allah. Lo! none despaireth of the Spirit of Allah save disbelieving folk.” (12:87)

00:04:14.449 --> 00:04:18.449
﴿Except the disbelieving people."﴾

00:04:18.449 --> 00:04:22.250
The sons obeyed their father's command—

00:04:22.250 --> 00:04:24.250
Jacob, peace be upon him—

00:04:24.250 --> 00:04:27.250
And gathered what goods they could trade,

00:04:27.250 --> 00:04:31.250
Finding them to be of poor quality and barely sufficient.

00:04:31.250 --> 00:04:35.310
They loaded them up and set off for Egypt.

00:04:35.310 --> 00:04:39.310
When they entered upon their brother Joseph once again,

00:04:39.310 --> 00:04:43.310
They said to him in a state of weakness and distress:

00:04:43.310 --> 00:04:45.310
"O exalted minister!

00:04:45.310 --> 00:04:49.310
Drought and hardship have touched us and our family,

00:04:49.310 --> 00:04:52.310
And we have brought only merchandise of poor quality.

00:04:52.310 --> 00:04:56.310
So give us full measure as you used to give us before,

00:04:56.310 --> 00:05:01.310
And be charitable to us, honoring us by returning our brother to us.

00:05:01.310 --> 00:05:05.310
Indeed, Allah Almighty rewards the charitable."

00:05:05.310 --> 00:05:10.339
When Joseph, peace be upon him, saw their condition

00:05:10.339 --> 00:05:14.339
And heard their plea, he felt immense compassion for them,

00:05:14.339 --> 00:05:21.339
Moving him so deeply that he could no longer conceal his true identity from them.

00:05:21.339 --> 00:05:23.339
So he confronted them, saying:

00:05:23.339 --> 00:05:29.339
“He said: Know ye what ye did unto Joseph and his brother in your ignorance?” (12:89)

00:05:29.339 --> 00:05:33.430
At that moment, their memories rushed back to the past,

00:05:33.430 --> 00:05:36.430
And a dark picture flashed before their eyes.

00:05:36.430 --> 00:05:43.459
They remembered their injustice and hatred toward their two full brothers, Joseph and Benjamin.

00:05:43.459 --> 00:05:47.560
They remembered how cunningly they had asked their father for Joseph,

00:05:47.560 --> 00:05:51.560
And how treacherously they threw him into the pit.

00:05:51.560 --> 00:05:53.660
Then they paused and realized:

00:05:53.660 --> 00:05:57.660
No creation knows of this

00:05:57.660 --> 00:05:59.660
Except us and Joseph!

00:05:59.660 --> 00:06:03.750
Could it be conceivable that this minister is Joseph?

00:06:03.750 --> 00:06:06.910
They looked closely at his face,

00:06:06.910 --> 00:06:10.910
Clearing the dust of time from their eyes,

00:06:10.910 --> 00:06:13.910
And indeed, the features were remarkably alike.

00:06:13.910 --> 00:06:15.980
So they said to him:

00:06:15.980 --> 00:06:19.040
"Are you indeed Joseph?"

00:06:19.040 --> 00:06:24.040
The noble and generous brother did not let the confusion linger on their faces for long,

00:06:24.040 --> 00:06:26.040
But said to them:

00:06:26.040 --> 00:06:29.040
"Yes, I am Joseph,

00:06:29.040 --> 00:06:31.040
And this is my brother Benjamin.

00:06:31.040 --> 00:06:33.040
He then called for him,

00:06:33.040 --> 00:06:37.040
And Benjamin came forward, honored and esteemed,

00:06:37.040 --> 00:06:41.040
Not a bondservant as they had assumed.

00:06:41.040 --> 00:06:43.040
Joseph said:

00:06:43.040 --> 00:06:45.040
"Here we are, the two brothers.

00:06:45.040 --> 00:06:48.040
You did to us what you did,

00:06:48.040 --> 00:06:51.040
And past is what transpired through your misconduct toward us.

00:06:51.040 --> 00:06:55.139
Yet here we are, reunited once more,

00:06:55.139 --> 00:06:58.139
“They said: Is it indeed thou who art Joseph? He said: I am Joseph and this is my brother. Allah hath shown us favour. Lo! he who wardeth off (evil) and endureth (findeth favour); for lo! Allah loseth not the wages of the kindly.” (12:90)

00:06:58.139 --> 00:07:03.259
For indeed, Allah does not allow the reward of the righteous to be lost."

00:07:03.259 --> 00:07:05.259
The brothers were completely speechbound,

00:07:05.259 --> 00:07:07.259
And said in apology:

00:07:07.259 --> 00:07:11.259
"By Allah, Allah has truly preferred you over us,

00:07:11.259 --> 00:07:14.259
And favored you with knowledge, forbearance, and grace,

00:07:14.259 --> 00:07:19.259
While we were indeed sinful in what we did to you and your brother.

00:07:19.259 --> 00:07:21.259
So forgive us."

00:07:21.259 --> 00:07:25.509
Joseph, peace be upon him, accepted their apology

00:07:25.509 --> 00:07:26.509
And said to them:

00:07:26.509 --> 00:07:30.509
"No blame shall be laid upon you today, nor any reproach.

00:07:30.509 --> 00:07:33.509
I ask Allah to forgive you,

00:07:33.509 --> 00:07:37.959
For He, glorified be He, is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."

00:07:37.959 --> 00:07:39.959
Allah Almighty says:

00:07:39.959 --> 00:07:43.310
﴿So when they entered upon Joseph,﴾

00:07:43.310 --> 00:07:46.310
﴿They said, "O exalted minister,﴾

00:07:46.310 --> 00:07:51.310
﴿Adversity has touched us and our family,﴾

00:07:51.310 --> 00:07:55.310
﴿And we have brought merchandise of poor quality,﴾

00:07:55.310 --> 00:08:00.310
﴿So pay us full measure﴾

00:08:00.310 --> 00:08:03.310
﴿And be charitable to us."﴾

00:08:03.310 --> 00:08:08.310
“And when they came (again) before him (Joseph) they said: O ruler! Misfortune hath touched us and our folk, and we bring but poor merchandise, so fill for us the measure and be charitable unto us. Lo! Allah will requite the charitable,” (12:88)

00:08:08.310 --> 00:08:15.310
“He said: Know ye what ye did unto Joseph and his brother in your ignorance?” (12:89)

00:08:15.310 --> 00:08:18.310
﴿When you were ignorant?﴾

00:08:18.310 --> 00:08:24.310
“They said: Is it indeed thou who art Joseph? He said: I am Joseph and this is my brother. Allah hath shown us favour. Lo! he who wardeth off (evil) and endureth (findeth favour); for lo! Allah loseth not the wages of the kindly.” (12:90)

00:08:24.310 --> 00:08:28.310
“They said: Is it indeed thou who art Joseph? He said: I am Joseph and this is my brother. Allah hath shown us favour. Lo! he who wardeth off (evil) and endureth (findeth favour); for lo! Allah loseth not the wages of the kindly.” (12:90)

00:08:28.310 --> 00:08:34.179
﴿Allah has favored us.﴾

00:08:34.179 --> 00:08:37.179
﴿Indeed, whoever fears Allah and remains patient—﴾

00:08:37.179 --> 00:08:42.179
﴿Then indeed, Allah does not allow the reward of the righteous to be lost.﴾

00:08:42.179 --> 00:08:51.179
“They said: By Allah, verily Allah hath preferred thee above us, and we were indeed sinful.” (12:91)

00:08:51.179 --> 00:08:56.179
﴿"By Allah, Allah has preferred you over us, and we were indeed sinful."﴾

00:08:56.179 --> 00:09:01.179
“He said: Have no fear this day! May Allah forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.” (12:92)

00:09:01.179 --> 00:09:04.529
﴿"May Allah forgive you;﴾

00:09:04.529 --> 00:09:11.500
﴿And He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy."﴾

00:09:11.500 --> 00:09:14.500
"There is no point in dwelling on the past now,

00:09:14.500 --> 00:09:19.500
Nor any benefit in reproaching a sin for which its committer has apologized.

00:09:19.500 --> 00:09:23.539
So let us begin positive, fruitful action."

00:09:23.539 --> 00:09:26.539
Such was Joseph, peace be upon him:

00:09:26.539 --> 00:09:31.539
He was proactive, seeking actions rather than mere words.

00:09:31.539 --> 00:09:33.600
He asked them about their father,

00:09:33.600 --> 00:09:37.600
And they informed him that his eyesight was lost out of grief for him.

00:09:37.600 --> 00:09:39.629
So he said to them:

00:09:39.629 --> 00:09:41.629
"Take this shirt of mine,

00:09:41.629 --> 00:09:43.629
Go with it to my father,

00:09:43.629 --> 00:09:46.629
And cast it over his face,

00:09:46.629 --> 00:09:49.629
And Allah will restore his sight.

00:09:49.629 --> 00:09:55.559
Then bring to me him and your entire family."

00:09:55.559 --> 00:09:58.559
The brothers took their brother Joseph's shirt

00:09:58.559 --> 00:10:01.559
And departed from Egypt in haste,

00:10:01.559 --> 00:10:05.620
To convey the glad tidings to the grieving old father.

00:10:05.620 --> 00:10:08.620
Meanwhile, Jacob, peace be upon him, in Palestine,

00:10:08.620 --> 00:10:11.620
Hundreds of miles away,

00:10:11.620 --> 00:10:13.620
Said to those around him:

00:10:13.620 --> 00:10:17.620
"I truly smell the scent of my son Joseph.

00:10:17.620 --> 00:10:22.620
Were it not for the fear that you would dismiss me and attribute senility to me,

00:10:22.620 --> 00:10:26.750
I would declare it openly before everyone."

00:10:26.750 --> 00:10:30.909
Such were the feelings and intuition of a grief-stricken father.

00:10:30.909 --> 00:10:33.909
Those present with him said:

00:10:33.909 --> 00:10:38.909
"By Allah, you are still in your old delusion regarding your love for Joseph,

00:10:38.909 --> 00:10:42.009
And you simply cannot forget him."

00:10:42.009 --> 00:10:45.009
They spoke to him harsh words

00:10:45.009 --> 00:10:49.460
That they ought not to have uttered.

00:10:49.460 --> 00:10:52.460
The caravan moved swiftly from Egypt,

00:10:52.460 --> 00:10:54.460
Drawing near to Palestine,

00:10:54.460 --> 00:10:58.460
As Jacob's sensation of Joseph's closeness intensified.

00:10:58.460 --> 00:11:01.460
He smelled his scent ever more strongly,

00:11:01.460 --> 00:11:04.460
And longing surged within his heart.

00:11:04.460 --> 00:11:08.649
As Jacob's sons approached their father's home,

00:11:08.649 --> 00:11:12.649
The bearer of glad tidings carrying Joseph's shirt stepped forward

00:11:12.649 --> 00:11:15.649
To Jacob, peace be upon him,

00:11:15.649 --> 00:11:18.649
And cast the shirt over his face.

00:11:18.649 --> 00:11:21.649
Instantly, sight returned to Jacob's eyes,

00:11:21.649 --> 00:11:25.649
And life returned to his weary body.

00:11:26.809 --> 00:11:31.809
He stood up as if he had suffered no weakness or illness prior to that moment.

00:11:31.809 --> 00:11:34.940
At this, Jacob, peace be upon him, said

00:11:34.940 --> 00:11:37.940
To his sons and those around him:

00:11:37.940 --> 00:11:40.100
"Did I not tell you

00:11:40.100 --> 00:11:44.100
That I know, through Allah's mercy, favor, and benevolence,

00:11:44.100 --> 00:11:46.100
That which you do not know?"

00:11:46.100 --> 00:11:49.350
His sons said, apologizing to their father

00:11:49.350 --> 00:11:52.350
For what they had done to Joseph and his brother:

00:11:52.350 --> 00:11:54.350
"O our father,

00:11:54.350 --> 00:11:56.350
Forgive us,

00:11:56.350 --> 00:12:00.350
And ask Allah to forgive our past sins,

00:12:00.350 --> 00:12:06.610
For we were indeed wrong in what we did to Joseph and his full brother."

00:12:06.610 --> 00:12:08.769
He said to them:

00:12:08.769 --> 00:12:11.769
"I will ask my Lord to forgive you,

00:12:11.769 --> 00:12:16.769
For He alone is the Forgiving of the sins of His repentant servants,

00:12:16.769 --> 00:12:18.769
The Merciful to them."

00:12:18.769 --> 00:12:21.769
And he delayed doing so until the pre-dawn hour,

00:12:21.769 --> 00:12:25.759
So it would be closer to being answered.

00:12:25.759 --> 00:12:29.759
Jacob, his sons, and their entire household prepared themselves

00:12:29.759 --> 00:12:34.759
And set out from their land, bound for Joseph in Egypt.

00:12:34.759 --> 00:12:37.789
Joseph, peace be upon him, went out to receive him,

00:12:37.789 --> 00:12:40.789
Accompanied by his retinue and soldiers.

00:12:40.789 --> 00:12:42.789
It is even said

00:12:42.789 --> 00:12:44.789
That the King of Egypt himself went out with them

00:12:44.789 --> 00:12:47.789
To welcome Jacob, peace be upon him.

00:12:47.789 --> 00:12:51.049
When Jacob met Joseph,

00:12:51.049 --> 00:12:54.049
They embraced in a warm embrace

00:12:54.049 --> 00:12:57.049
And he wept a deeply moving tear,

00:12:57.049 --> 00:13:00.269
for it was the reunion of a loving father

00:13:00.269 --> 00:13:02.269
with his beloved son,

00:13:02.269 --> 00:13:05.269
after a long separation and absence.

00:13:05.269 --> 00:13:08.299
Joseph embraced his father and mother,

00:13:08.299 --> 00:13:11.299
holding them close to him,

00:13:11.299 --> 00:13:14.299
showing them immense righteousness, honor,

00:13:14.299 --> 00:13:16.299
reverence, and veneration,

00:13:16.299 --> 00:13:18.299
a truly magnificent display of devotion.

00:13:18.299 --> 00:13:20.299
And he said to them,

00:13:20.299 --> 00:13:24.299
“And when they came in before Joseph, he took his parents unto him, and said: Come into Egypt safe, if Allah will!” (12:99)

00:13:24.299 --> 00:13:27.399
Thus, they entered into this joyful state,

00:13:27.399 --> 00:13:31.399
and their hardship and the misery of life melted away;

00:13:31.399 --> 00:13:33.399
happiness was achieved,

00:13:33.399 --> 00:13:35.399
and their joy was made complete.

00:13:35.399 --> 00:13:40.200
Joseph, peace be upon him, seated his parents upon the throne—

00:13:40.200 --> 00:13:43.200
which was the royal seat upon which he sat—

00:13:43.200 --> 00:13:47.200
and his parents and his eleven brothers paid homage to him

00:13:47.200 --> 00:13:49.200
by bowing down before him,

00:13:49.200 --> 00:13:52.200
a prostration of greeting and honor,

00:13:52.200 --> 00:13:56.200
fulfilling the vision that Joseph, peace be upon him, had seen

00:13:56.200 --> 00:13:59.299
when he was a young boy.

00:13:59.299 --> 00:14:02.299
That is why Joseph, peace be upon him, said to his father:

00:14:02.299 --> 00:14:05.299
"This prostration of yours before me

00:14:05.299 --> 00:14:09.299
is the fulfillment of my dream of long ago,

00:14:09.299 --> 00:14:11.299
which I had recounted to you.

00:14:11.299 --> 00:14:15.299
My Lord has made it come true by bringing it to pass,

00:14:15.299 --> 00:14:17.299
and He has indeed been good to me

00:14:17.299 --> 00:14:19.299
when He brought me out of prison

00:14:19.299 --> 00:14:22.299
and brought you all here from the desert,

00:14:22.299 --> 00:14:27.299
after Satan had sown discord between me and my brothers.

00:14:27.299 --> 00:14:31.389
Indeed, my Lord is subtle in accomplishing whatever He wills;

00:14:31.389 --> 00:14:34.389
He is the All-Knowing of His servants' states,

00:14:34.389 --> 00:14:37.779
the All-Wise in His planning."

00:14:37.779 --> 00:14:39.779
Allah Almighty said:

00:14:39.779 --> 00:14:42.840
◁ "Take this shirt of mine ▷

00:14:42.840 --> 00:14:45.840

00:15:05.840 --> 00:15:10.840
◁ "were it not that you might think me senile." ▷

00:15:10.840 --> 00:15:12.840

00:15:38.840 --> 00:15:43.840

in the land and sovereignty,

00:17:04.980 --> 00:17:07.980
and comforted his eyes with his parents and brothers,

and granted him immense knowledge,

Joseph, peace be upon him, said,

00:17:13.980 --> 00:17:15.980
acknowledging Allah's favor

00:17:15.980 --> 00:17:18.099
and giving thanks for it:

00:17:43.670 --> 00:17:45.670
Dear honorable brothers,

00:17:45.670 --> 00:17:49.670
the name of the Prophet of Allah, Jacob, peace be upon him, has been mentioned

00:17:49.670 --> 00:17:52.670
in the Qur'an 16 times,

00:17:52.670 --> 00:17:56.670
while the name of the Prophet of Allah, Joseph, peace be upon him, was mentioned

00:17:56.670 --> 00:17:58.670
27 times.

00:17:58.670 --> 00:18:02.670
In their story lie many lessons and morals,

00:18:02.670 --> 00:18:04.700
among the most important of which are:

00:18:04.700 --> 00:18:07.279
Jacob, peace be upon him,

00:18:07.279 --> 00:18:11.279
harbored a good opinion of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He;

00:18:11.279 --> 00:18:14.279
for he lost his son Joseph at first,

00:18:14.279 --> 00:18:16.279
and then his brother,

00:18:16.279 --> 00:18:19.279
yet he maintained a good expectation of Allah,

00:18:19.279 --> 00:18:24.279
hoping that He would return all his children to him,

00:18:24.279 --> 00:18:27.920
and Allah answered his hope.

00:18:27.920 --> 00:18:31.920
Jacob's, peace be upon him, love encompassed all his children,

00:18:31.920 --> 00:18:34.920
but his love for his son Joseph

00:18:34.920 --> 00:18:36.920
was special

00:18:36.920 --> 00:18:40.920
because of the wisdom and intelligence he saw in him,

00:18:40.920 --> 00:18:44.920
as well as the qualifications to become one of the Prophets.

00:18:44.920 --> 00:18:49.559
A servant of Allah should avoid the causes of harm

00:18:49.559 --> 00:18:52.559
and conceal that which is feared to bring harm;

00:18:52.559 --> 00:18:56.559
Jacob directed his dear child to this by saying:

00:18:56.559 --> 00:18:59.559
“He said: O my dear son! Tell not thy brethren of thy vision, lest they plot a plot against thee. Lo! Satan is for man an open foe.” (12:5)

00:18:59.559 --> 00:19:03.140
◁ "lest they plot against you a scheme." ▷

00:19:03.140 --> 00:19:06.140
What matters is the ultimate outcome, not the beginning;

00:19:06.140 --> 00:19:10.140
such was the affair of the brothers of Joseph, peace be upon him,

00:19:10.140 --> 00:19:13.140
as they repented and sought forgiveness,

00:19:13.140 --> 00:19:17.140
and Jacob and Joseph, peace be upon them, pardoned them;

00:19:17.140 --> 00:19:21.140
and if a servant pardons, Allah is even more deserving of doing so,

00:19:21.140 --> 00:19:24.869
and He is the Best of the merciful.

00:19:24.869 --> 00:19:27.869
When a blessing is bestowed upon a servant,

00:19:27.869 --> 00:19:30.869
he should remember his previous hardship

00:19:30.869 --> 00:19:33.869
in order to truly give thanks for Allah's grace upon him;

00:19:33.869 --> 00:19:36.869
for blessings, when thanked, abide,

00:19:36.869 --> 00:19:40.420
and when unappreciated, flee.

00:19:40.420 --> 00:19:43.420
Persisting in supplication to Allah

00:19:43.420 --> 00:19:46.420
and asking Him for steadfastness, because the hearts of servants

00:19:46.420 --> 00:19:49.420
are between two of the fingers of the Most Merciful;

00:19:49.420 --> 00:19:52.450
He turns them however He wills.

00:19:52.450 --> 00:19:55.450
Hence, among the supplications of Joseph, peace be upon him, was:

00:19:55.450 --> 00:19:59.150
◁ "Cause me to die as a Muslim." ▷

00:19:59.150 --> 00:20:02.150
Lastly, the virtue of patience

00:20:02.150 --> 00:20:05.150
and its praised outcomes;

00:20:05.150 --> 00:20:08.150
such was the state of Jacob and Joseph, peace be upon them.

00:20:08.150 --> 00:20:12.720
The lesson will continue, Allah willing.

00:20:12.720 --> 00:20:15.720
And Allah knows best.

00:20:15.720 --> 00:20:18.720
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

00:20:18.720 --> 00:20:21.720
May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad

00:20:21.720 --> 00:20:24.720
and upon all his family and Companions.

00:20:39.230 --> 00:20:44.700
May Allah send blessings upon our Master, the best of guardians.
