In summary, the understanding of the people of the Sunnah is that
the role and scope of the intellect in relation to authentic sacred texts
is to strive to understand these texts and determine how to act upon them, not to judge whether to accept or reject them.
For revelation is the straight path,
while the intellect is merely the tool used to comprehend this path.
It is inconceivable that the tool could contradict the path,
or object to it.
Claiming there is a contradiction between them
amounts to an accusation against the One who sent down the revelation and created the intellect,
which is a rebellion against His Lordship and a denial of one's servitude to Him.
This is the essence of the understanding of the people of the Sunnah.
