Summary of the concepts of Ahl al-Sunnah:
Emigration when resisting falsehood becomes impossible.
Linguistically, emigration (hijrah) means abandonment, while in Islamic law,
it means leaving a land of polytheism for a land of Islam, and by extension,
leaving a land of innovation for a land of Sunnah,
a land of sin and disobedience for a land of adherence to Islamic law,
and a land of usury and unlawful transactions for a land of lawful dealings.
It is prescribed for whoever is unable to effect change
and fears falling into polytheism or sins,
so long as there is no overriding religious benefit in his remaining.
As for one who has the capacity to denounce evil and resist corruption and its perpetrators,
it is not permissible for him to emigrate.
Emigrating for the sake of Allah the Almighty
is a complete renunciation of all the worldly comforts the soul yearns for—
such as family, wealth, and homeland—
and giving precedence to the love of Allah, Mighty and Majestic,
and the love of His religion over all other beloved things.
Allah the Almighty said:
“Whoso migrateth for the cause of Allah will find much refuge and abundance in the earth, and whoso forsaketh his home, a fugitive unto Allah and His messenger, and death overtaketh him, his reward is then incumbent on Allah. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.” (4:100)

And Allah the Almighty said:
“Lo! as for those whom the angels take (in death) while they wrong themselves, (the angels) will ask: In what were ye engaged? They will say: We were oppressed in the land. (The angels) will say: Was not Allah's earth spacious that ye could have migrated therein? As for such, their habitation will be hell, an evil journey's end;” (4:97)
