00:00:00.530 --> 00:00:04.969
The Garden of Guidance.

00:00:04.969 --> 00:00:08.539
Allah, Almighty and Glorious, said:

00:00:08.539 --> 00:00:26.609
“And, O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn unto Him repentant; He will cause the sky to rain abundance on you and will add unto you strength to your strength. Turn not away, guilty!” (11:52)

00:00:26.609 --> 00:00:33.609
“And, O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord, then turn unto Him repentant; He will cause the sky to rain abundance on you and will add unto you strength to your strength. Turn not away, guilty!” (11:52)

00:00:33.609 --> 00:00:38.109
And on the authority of Shaddad ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him),

00:00:38.109 --> 00:00:42.109
the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

00:00:42.109 --> 00:00:46.240
"The master of seeking forgiveness is to say:

00:00:46.240 --> 00:00:51.240
'O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no deity except You.

00:00:51.240 --> 00:00:54.240
You created me, and I am Your servant,

00:00:54.240 --> 00:00:58.299
and I abide by Your covenant and Your promise as best I can.

00:00:58.299 --> 00:01:01.299
I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done.

00:01:01.299 --> 00:01:04.299
I acknowledge Your favor upon me,

00:01:04.299 --> 00:01:07.299
and I acknowledge my sin to You,

00:01:07.299 --> 00:01:09.299
so forgive me,

00:01:09.299 --> 00:01:14.299
for none forgives sins except You.'"

00:01:14.299 --> 00:01:15.299
He said:

00:01:15.299 --> 00:01:19.340
"Whoever says it during the day with firm conviction in it,

00:01:19.340 --> 00:01:23.340
and dies that day before evening comes,

00:01:23.340 --> 00:01:26.340
he will be among the people of Paradise.

00:01:26.340 --> 00:01:30.560
And whoever says it during the night with firm conviction in it,

00:01:30.560 --> 00:01:32.560
and dies before morning comes,

00:01:32.560 --> 00:01:35.560
he will be among the people of Paradise."

00:01:35.560 --> 00:01:37.780
Narrated by al-Bukhari.

00:01:37.780 --> 00:01:42.040
And on the authority of 'Abdullah ibn Busr (may Allah be pleased with him),

00:01:42.040 --> 00:01:47.040
the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

00:01:47.040 --> 00:01:52.040
"Glad tidings to him who finds in his record abundant seeking of forgiveness."

00:01:53.230 --> 00:01:55.230
Narrated by Ibn Majah.

00:01:55.230 --> 00:02:00.769
Thus, when 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

00:02:00.769 --> 00:02:04.769
"How astonishing it is that one perishes when salvation is right beside him!"

00:02:04.769 --> 00:02:06.769
It was asked, "And what is it?"

00:02:06.769 --> 00:02:07.769
He said:

00:02:07.769 --> 00:02:09.770
"Seeking forgiveness."

00:02:09.770 --> 00:02:11.770
And he used to say:

00:02:11.770 --> 00:02:15.770
"Allah, Glorious and Exalted, does not inspire a servant to seek forgiveness

00:02:15.770 --> 00:02:17.770
while intending to punish him."

00:02:17.770 --> 00:02:20.990
And Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

00:02:20.990 --> 00:02:27.990
"Indeed, my mind sometimes comes to a standstill regarding a matter, a problem, or a complex situation that baffles me,

00:02:27.990 --> 00:02:33.990
so I seek forgiveness of Allah Almighty a thousand times, or more, or less,

00:02:33.990 --> 00:02:39.020
until my heart opens and the knot of whatever troubled me is untied."

00:02:39.020 --> 00:02:40.020
He said:

00:02:40.020 --> 00:02:45.020
"At such times, whether I am in the marketplace, the mosque, an alley, or a school,

00:02:45.020 --> 00:02:49.020
that does not prevent me from engaging in remembrance and seeking forgiveness,

00:02:49.020 --> 00:02:52.020
until I attain what I seek."
