he must then consider which of the two matters he stands with.

And he must consider which one he will prioritize over the other.

Let his guide and compass in making that choice be the words of Allah the Exalted:

“Say: If your fathers, and your sons, and your brethren, and your wives, and your tribe, and the wealth ye have acquired, and merchandise for which ye fear that there will no sale, and dwellings ye desire are dearer to you than Allah and His messenger and striving in His way: then wait till Allah bringeth His command to pass. Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.” (9:24)

Just as Allah the Exalted said: "And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people."

And Allah is not pleased with them, for indeed Allah is not pleased with the defiantly disobedient people.

Then, let him judge himself thereafter:

Is he among those who love Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love?

Or is he among the ranks of the defiantly disobedient who are detested by Allah the Exalted?
