The Garden of Guidance
Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, says:
“Believe in Allah and His messenger, and spend of that whereof He hath made you trustees; and such of you as believe and spend (aright), theirs will be a great reward.” (57:7)
On the authority of 'Uqbah Ibn 'Amir, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say:
"Every person shall be in the shade of his charity until judgment is passed between the people,"
or he said, "until it is decided between the people."
Yazid said: Abu al-Khayr would never let a day pass without giving something in charity,
even if it were a cake, an onion, or something similar.
Narrated by Ahmad.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Indeed, charity extinguishes the heat of the graves for its people."
And the believer shall only be shaded on the Day of Resurrection by the shade of his charity.
A beneficial point:
Abu al-Khayr Marthad al-Misri would never enter the mosque without having charity in his sleeve,
whether it was coins, bread, wheat, or sometimes even onions.
It would be said to him, "This makes your clothes smell."
He would reply, "I simply could not find anything else in the house to give as charity."
For he was told by a man from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him:
That the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:
"The shade of the believer on the Day of Resurrection is his charity."
