The fear of Allah, glorified be He, ought to be
A barrier against forbidden acts in all circumstances.
This applies when one is in the presence of others,
Just as it applies in private, away from their sight.
This station is higher than fearing Him only when others are present,
Because it is a clearer indication of a person’s veneration and reverence for their Lord.
Allah the Exalted has praised those who fear Him in the unseen,
Saying: "Those who fear their Lord in the unseen."
“Those who fear their Lord in secret and who dread the Hour (of doom).” (21:49)
It was among the supplications of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him:
"And I ask You for Your fear in the unseen and the manifest."
