It is a misconception to believe that piety consists only of abstention.
Rather, it also encompasses the realm of action.
Fulfilling one's obligatory duties is considered a form of piety.
This is because failing to perform them leads to harm in the Hereafter.
Thus, maintaining family ties, which is an obligation, is a form of piety.
Likewise, enjoining good and forbidding evil are acts of piety.
As is fulfilling the rights of the poor, the neighbor, and the Muslims in general.
And so on, in this manner.
