00:01:53.530 --> 00:01:56.530 Retaliate against me if you can!" 00:01:56.530 --> 00:01:59.530 Men from Banu Makhzum rose up against me, 00:01:59.530 --> 00:02:01.530 but Abu Jahl said, 00:02:01.530 --> 00:02:03.530 "Leave Abu 'Umarah alone, 00:02:03.530 --> 00:02:08.530 for by Allah, I insulted his nephew most vilely." 00:02:08.530 --> 00:02:10.560 I left their presence, 00:02:10.560 --> 00:02:14.560 while Allah had cast the love of Islam into my heart, 00:02:14.560 --> 00:02:16.560 and thus I embraced Islam at that moment. 00:02:16.560 --> 00:02:20.560 Through my conversion, the strength of the Muslims was greatly bolstered. 00:02:20.560 --> 00:02:24.639 I migrated to Madinah, 00:02:24.639 --> 00:02:28.639 and took part in the Battle of Badr alongside the Prophet, peace be upon him. 00:02:28.639 --> 00:02:33.639 I killed the very first polytheist fallen in that battle, 00:02:33.639 --> 00:02:38.639 when al-Aswad ibn 'Abd al-Asad al-Makhzumi came forward 00:02:38.639 --> 00:02:43.639 having vowed to Allah that he would drink from our cistern, demolish it, 00:02:43.639 --> 00:02:45.639 or die trying. 00:02:45.639 --> 00:02:47.639 So I went out to face him, 00:02:47.639 --> 00:02:49.639 and when we clashed, 00:02:49.639 --> 00:02:51.639 I dealt him a blow with my sword. 00:02:51.639 --> 00:02:53.639 He then crawled toward the cistern, 00:02:53.639 --> 00:02:56.639 desperate to fulfill his oath, 00:02:56.639 --> 00:03:01.639 so I struck him again and killed him before he could reach it. 00:03:01.639 --> 00:03:06.639 Then three of their champions emerged demanding a duel, 00:03:06.639 --> 00:03:12.750 so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, ordered me, 00:03:12.750 --> 00:03:17.780 along with 'Ubaydah ibn al-Harith and 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, 00:03:17.780 --> 00:03:19.780 to go out to meet them. 00:03:19.780 --> 00:03:23.780 We fought them in single combat and killed them all, 00:03:23.780 --> 00:03:26.780 and that was the very first duel in Islam. 00:03:26.780 --> 00:03:29.780 Regarding us, Allah Almighty revealed: 00:03:29.780 --> 00:03:33.780 "These are two adversaries who have disputed over their Lord..." 00:03:33.780 --> 00:03:35.780 down to the end of the verses. 00:03:35.780 --> 00:03:37.780 Then the general battle commenced, 00:03:37.780 --> 00:03:40.780 and I placed an ostrich feather upon my chest, 00:03:40.780 --> 00:03:43.780 fighting vigorously, slaying and striking down the enemy. 00:03:43.780 --> 00:03:46.780 I wore an ostrich feather upon my chest 00:03:46.780 --> 00:03:48.780 and engaged the polytheists in combat, 00:03:48.780 --> 00:03:50.780 felling their mightiest champions 00:03:50.780 --> 00:03:53.780 and dislodging them from their positions, 00:03:53.780 --> 00:03:55.780 until Allah routed them. 00:03:55.780 --> 00:03:58.849 After the battle, Umayyah ibn Khalaf asked 00:03:58.849 --> 00:04:00.849 while he was a captive: 00:04:00.849 --> 00:04:04.849 "Who was the man marked with the ostrich feather on his chest, 00:04:04.849 --> 00:04:07.849 the one who wreaked such havoc upon us?" 00:04:07.849 --> 00:04:10.939 The Muslims gave me the title "The Lion of Allah" 00:04:10.939 --> 00:04:14.939 and "The Lion of His Messenger," peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:04:14.939 --> 00:04:17.040 So, who am I?
