Among the beauties of the Prophetic biography.
Honoring professions.
Perhaps there is someone in the distance, weak and overlooked,
Who has isolated himself, occupied with his work,
Yet he performs a service that everyone relies upon,
Even if they do not honor his status.
The duty is for people to be honored for their character,
And for their beneficial professions,
Not for their appearances or their positions.
How many a person, deemed weak and insignificant by others,
Is great in the sight of Allah,
Due to the greatness of what he performs and produces.
An example of this is the woman who used to sweep the mosque
During the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
She passed away,
So he went to her grave to pray over her.
Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
"A black woman used to sweep the mosque,"
Meaning she would clean it.
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, missed her,
So he asked about her.
They said, "She has died."
He said, "Why did you not inform me?"
Meaning, why did you not tell me?
He said, "It was as if they considered her matter insignificant."
So he said,
"Show me to her grave."
They showed him,
And he prayed over her.
Then he said,
"Indeed, these graves are filled with darkness for their inhabitants,
And Allah, the Almighty, illuminates them for them through my prayer over them."
People considered her matter insignificant
Because she was a servant of the mosque,
And not among the famous.
But Allah made her known through her sincerity and the excellence of her faith,
And through the righteous deed she offered in service to the people:
Sweeping the mosque,
And cleaning it of dirt.
And thus,
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, honored her status,
And went to her grave to pray over her.
In this hadith, there is:
Honoring those who are poor,
Asking about them,
And a leader checking on his companions,
Even if their status is low,
And their lineage and tasks are considered humble.
It also shows the humility of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
His compassion for his Ummah,
And the permissibility of praying at the grave for one who missed the funeral prayer.
