00:00:00.460 --> 00:00:03.459
A verse and its Tafsir.

00:00:03.459 --> 00:00:07.389
Allah the Exalted says:

00:00:07.389 --> 00:00:11.390
"They have taken their rabbis and monks as lords besides Allah."

00:00:11.390 --> 00:00:14.960
The term *habr* (rabbi/scholar) refers to the learned person.

00:00:14.960 --> 00:00:16.960
He is called a *habr*

00:00:16.960 --> 00:00:19.960
Because the trace of his knowledge remains.

00:00:19.960 --> 00:00:21.960
Thus, the root of the word *habr*

00:00:21.960 --> 00:00:23.960
Indicates the persistence of a trace or mark.

00:00:23.960 --> 00:00:25.960
And that is why it is said,

00:00:25.960 --> 00:00:27.960
"The skin of such-and-such person has a *habr*,"

00:00:27.960 --> 00:00:32.090
Meaning a mark from a wound or sore remains upon his skin.

00:00:32.090 --> 00:00:36.090
Among the narrations attributed to ‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, is his saying:

00:00:36.090 --> 00:00:40.090
"The scholars remain as long as time remains.

00:00:40.090 --> 00:00:42.090
Their physical bodies are lost,

00:00:42.090 --> 00:00:46.090
But their traces are present among the people."
