From the aesthetics of the Prophetic biography (Seerah)
The pivot of character
The pivot, essence, and public face of a person’s character remains the abandonment of anger
And the forsaking of emotional outbursts that erode one’s morals and lead to corrupt conduct
It is recorded in the Sahih that a man said to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, "Advise me."
He replied, "Do not get angry," and when the man repeated the request, he said again, "Do not get angry."
If you become angry, your appearance becomes unsightly, your character becomes repulsive, and your stances become harsh
You reach a state that people cannot endure or tolerate, and you become known as someone who is contentious and stubborn
Imam Ibn al-Mubarak, may Allah have mercy on him, was once asked to summarize good character in a single word
He replied, "Abandoning anger."
Scholars have said that the Prophet, peace be upon him, encompassed the good of this world and the Hereafter in his words, "Do not get angry."
This is because anger leads to severing ties and the deprivation of gentleness, forbearance, and the absence of affection
It may even lead to harming the one who is the object of anger, which diminishes one’s religion, dissolves one’s composure and tranquility, and poisons the soul
For this reason, in another hadith, the virtuous and complete man is defined by the words: "The strong man is not the one who wrestles," meaning the one who throws others down
Rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself when he is angry
