Strength.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"The strong believer
is better and more beloved to Allah
than the weak believer,
though there is good in both."
Recorded by Muslim.
This is a general expression
that encompasses every form of strength,
in all its goodness,
and thus it includes military strength,
physical strength,
and strength in knowledge, understanding, and faith.
Allah the Exalted said:
"O Yahya,
take the Scripture with strength."
This concept expands
to include a domain
that might not occur to a person's mind:
the strength of self-control
and mastery
over oneself during moments of anger.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
"The strong person is not
the one who can wrestle others down;
rather, the strong person is the one who controls himself
when he is angry."
