00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:03.000
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

00:00:03.000 --> 00:00:10.509
Mawaddah Association presents: The Ten Promised Paradise.

00:00:10.509 --> 00:00:17.170
'Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him.

00:00:17.170 --> 00:00:22.170
Love for the Companions and the Prophet's kin is an established Sunnah,

00:00:22.170 --> 00:00:27.170
With which I shall meet my Lord when He resurrects me.

00:00:27.170 --> 00:00:30.170
Love for the Companions and the Prophet's kin.

00:00:30.170 --> 00:00:35.170
Historians unanimously agree that 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him,

00:00:35.170 --> 00:00:39.170
Participated in all the military expeditions except Tabuk,

00:00:39.170 --> 00:00:46.170
And had noble stances before the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on the battlefields.

00:00:46.170 --> 00:00:52.299
During the Battle of Badr, 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) set out

00:00:52.299 --> 00:00:57.299
Alongside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and Abu Lubabah the Ansari,

00:00:57.299 --> 00:01:02.299
Sharing a single camel and taking turns riding it.

00:01:02.299 --> 00:01:09.459
'Ali and Abu Lubabah said to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him):

00:01:09.459 --> 00:01:12.459
"We will walk on your behalf, O Messenger of Allah."

00:01:12.459 --> 00:01:15.459
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, replied:

00:01:15.459 --> 00:01:21.459
"Neither of you is stronger than I am, nor am I in any less need of the reward than you two."

00:01:21.459 --> 00:01:24.650
When the Muslims reached Badr

00:01:24.650 --> 00:01:27.650
And both armies took their positions,

00:01:27.650 --> 00:01:30.650
Three horsemen from Quraysh stepped forward:

00:01:30.650 --> 00:01:33.650
'Utbah ibn Rabi'ah, his brother Shaybah,

00:01:33.650 --> 00:01:36.650
And his son Al-Walid ibn 'Utbah,

00:01:36.650 --> 00:01:38.650
Demanding a duel.

00:01:38.650 --> 00:01:42.650
Three young men from the Ansar went out to face them,

00:01:42.650 --> 00:01:45.650
So 'Utbah asked, "Who are you?"

00:01:45.650 --> 00:01:48.650
They answered, "We are from the Ansar."

00:01:48.650 --> 00:01:51.650
He said, "We have no need of you;

00:01:51.650 --> 00:01:54.650
We only want our own cousins."

00:01:54.650 --> 00:01:57.650
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

00:01:57.650 --> 00:02:00.650
"Stand, O Hamzah! Stand, O 'Ali!

00:02:00.650 --> 00:02:03.650
Stand, O 'Ubaydah ibn al-Harith!"

00:02:03.650 --> 00:02:05.650
They rose swiftly,

00:02:05.650 --> 00:02:08.650
Charging out like fierce lions,

00:02:08.650 --> 00:02:10.650
And clashed with the knights of disbelief

00:02:10.650 --> 00:02:13.650
To send them to their doom.

00:02:13.710 --> 00:02:16.710
As for Hamzah, he lunged toward 'Utbah

00:02:16.710 --> 00:02:19.710
And gave him a taste of the cup of death.

00:02:19.710 --> 00:02:22.710
As for 'Ali, he clashed with Shaybah

00:02:22.710 --> 00:02:25.710
And made him drink from the very same cup as his brother.

00:02:25.710 --> 00:02:27.710
As for 'Ubaydah,

00:02:27.710 --> 00:02:30.710
He and Al-Walid exchanged two strikes,

00:02:30.710 --> 00:02:33.710
Each wounding the other.

00:02:33.710 --> 00:02:36.710
Thereupon, Hamzah and 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with them) rushed

00:02:36.710 --> 00:02:38.710
Toward Al-Walid and slew him,

00:02:38.710 --> 00:02:40.710
Then carried 'Ubaydah ibn al-Harith

00:02:40.710 --> 00:02:42.710
Back to the Muslim camp.

00:02:42.710 --> 00:02:45.710
Concerning these two groups

00:02:45.710 --> 00:02:48.710
Of duelists, Allah revealed His words:

00:02:48.710 --> 00:03:43.610
On the day of Uhud,

00:03:43.610 --> 00:03:46.610
The battle turned against the Muslims,

00:03:46.610 --> 00:03:49.610
And a rumor spread that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

00:03:49.610 --> 00:03:52.610
Had been killed. A surge of protective zeal

00:03:52.610 --> 00:03:55.610
Overcame the soul of 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).

00:03:55.610 --> 00:03:57.610
He went searching among the slain

00:03:57.610 --> 00:04:00.610
For the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him,

00:04:00.610 --> 00:04:02.610
But could not find him.

00:04:02.610 --> 00:04:05.610
He said, "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah

00:04:05.610 --> 00:04:08.610
Would never flee, nor do I see him among the slain.

00:04:09.610 --> 00:04:12.610
Rather, I think Allah has become angry with us

00:04:12.610 --> 00:04:14.610
For what we did,

00:04:14.610 --> 00:04:17.610
And has taken up His Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.

00:04:17.610 --> 00:04:20.610
There is nothing better for me now than to fight

00:04:20.610 --> 00:04:22.610
Until I am killed."

00:04:22.610 --> 00:04:24.610
So he broke the scabbard of his sword

00:04:24.610 --> 00:04:26.610
And charged into the enemy.

00:04:26.610 --> 00:04:29.610
The Muslims parted ways for him,

00:04:29.610 --> 00:04:33.610
And he looked, and there was the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)

00:04:33.610 --> 00:04:35.670
In their midst.

00:04:35.670 --> 00:04:37.670
When the Battle of Uhud came to an end

00:04:37.670 --> 00:04:40.670
And the disbelievers of Quraysh withdrew from the battlefield,

00:04:40.670 --> 00:04:43.670
While the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)

00:04:43.670 --> 00:04:45.670
Remained there,

00:04:45.670 --> 00:04:47.670
He sent 'Ali ibn Abi Talib

00:04:47.670 --> 00:04:49.670
After the polytheists

00:04:49.670 --> 00:04:51.670
To confirm their departure,

00:04:51.670 --> 00:04:53.670
Telling him:

00:04:53.670 --> 00:04:55.670
"Track the enemy

00:04:55.670 --> 00:04:58.670
And see what they are doing and what they intend:

00:04:58.670 --> 00:05:00.670
If they lead their horses aside

00:05:00.670 --> 00:05:02.670
And mount their camels,

00:05:02.670 --> 00:05:04.670
Then they are heading for Mecca;

00:05:04.670 --> 00:05:07.670
But if they ride the horses and drive the camels,

00:05:07.670 --> 00:05:10.670
Then they intend to attack Medina.

00:05:10.670 --> 00:05:12.670
By the One in Whose hand my soul is,

00:05:12.670 --> 00:05:14.670
If they intend to march on it,

00:05:14.670 --> 00:05:16.670
I will surely march out against them there

00:05:16.670 --> 00:05:18.670
And fight them to the finish."

00:05:18.670 --> 00:05:22.860
'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) set out in pursuit of them

00:05:22.860 --> 00:05:25.860
And saw that they had led the horses aside and mounted the camels,

00:05:25.860 --> 00:05:28.959
Heading toward Mecca.

00:05:28.959 --> 00:05:31.959
Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered

00:05:31.959 --> 00:05:33.959
'Ali ibn Abi Talib

00:05:33.959 --> 00:05:35.959
To bring him some water.

00:05:35.959 --> 00:05:38.959
He brought him water from Mount Uhud,

00:05:38.959 --> 00:05:41.959
But when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)

00:05:41.959 --> 00:05:44.959
Wanted to drink, he noticed an unpleasant odor

00:05:44.959 --> 00:05:46.959
And could not stomach it,

00:05:46.959 --> 00:05:49.959
So he washed his face with it, saying:

00:05:49.959 --> 00:05:54.959
"Fierce is Allah's wrath against whoever bloodied the face of Allah's Messenger."

00:05:54.959 --> 00:05:59.959
Then Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), arrived

00:05:59.959 --> 00:06:02.959
And began washing the blood from her father's face,

00:06:02.959 --> 00:06:06.019
While 'Ali poured the water over it.

00:06:06.019 --> 00:06:09.019
When Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) saw

00:06:09.019 --> 00:06:12.019
That the water only caused the blood to flow more profusely,

00:06:12.019 --> 00:06:14.019
She took a piece of straw mat,

00:06:14.019 --> 00:06:17.019
Burned it until it turned to ashes,

00:06:17.019 --> 00:06:19.019
And applied it to the wound,

00:06:19.019 --> 00:06:21.790
Whereupon the bleeding stopped.

00:06:21.790 --> 00:06:23.790
During the Battle of the Trench,

00:06:23.790 --> 00:06:28.790
'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,

00:06:28.790 --> 00:06:31.790
Preoccupied with repelling the polytheists

00:06:31.790 --> 00:06:34.790
Until the 'Asr prayer had passed them by.

00:06:34.790 --> 00:06:37.790
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

00:06:37.790 --> 00:06:40.790
"They distracted us from the middle prayer,

00:06:40.790 --> 00:06:41.790
The 'Asr prayer.

00:06:41.790 --> 00:06:45.790
May Allah fill their homes and their graves with fire!"

00:06:45.790 --> 00:06:47.790
They then performed the 'Asr prayer

00:06:47.790 --> 00:06:51.430
Between the Maghrib and 'Isha prayers.

00:06:51.430 --> 00:06:54.430
'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was also

00:06:54.430 --> 00:06:57.430
Among those honored to give the Pledge of Ridwan,

00:06:57.430 --> 00:07:01.430
Pledging allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)

00:07:01.430 --> 00:07:03.430
Beneath the tree,

00:07:03.430 --> 00:07:04.430
Concerning which Allah sent down His revelation.

00:07:04.430 --> 00:07:07.430
When the peace treaty was being concluded between the Prophet (peace be upon him)

00:07:07.430 --> 00:07:09.430
And the people of Mecca,

00:07:09.430 --> 00:07:13.430
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) summoned 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)

00:07:13.430 --> 00:07:16.430
To write the terms of the treaty.

00:07:16.430 --> 00:07:20.430
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to him:

00:07:20.430 --> 00:07:23.430
"Write: In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful."

00:07:23.430 --> 00:07:25.430
But Suhayl ibn 'Amr,

00:07:25.430 --> 00:07:28.430
The chief negotiator for the people of Mecca, said:

00:07:28.430 --> 00:07:30.430
"As for 'the Entirely Merciful,'

00:07:30.430 --> 00:07:32.430
By Allah, I do not know what it means;

00:07:32.430 --> 00:07:36.500
Rather, write: In Your name, O Allah."

00:07:36.500 --> 00:07:39.500
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to 'Ali:

00:07:39.500 --> 00:07:42.500
"Write: In Your name, O Allah."

00:07:42.500 --> 00:07:44.500
Then he said:

00:07:44.500 --> 00:07:49.500
"This is what Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, has agreed upon with Suhayl ibn 'Amr."

00:07:49.500 --> 00:07:51.500
Suhayl objected:

00:07:51.500 --> 00:07:54.500
"By Allah, if we had known that you were the Messenger of Allah,

00:07:54.500 --> 00:07:58.500
We would not have barred you from the House nor fought you;

00:07:58.500 --> 00:08:01.500
Rather, write: Muhammad ibn 'Abdillah."

00:08:01.500 --> 00:08:05.620
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

00:08:05.620 --> 00:08:10.620
"By Allah, I am truly the Messenger of Allah, even if you reject me."

00:08:10.620 --> 00:08:14.660
Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to 'Ali:

00:08:14.660 --> 00:08:17.660
"Erase it."

00:08:17.660 --> 00:08:19.660
'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) replied:

00:08:19.660 --> 00:08:23.660
"By Allah, he is the Messenger of Allah despite your disdain,

00:08:23.660 --> 00:08:26.660
And by Allah, I will not erase it."

00:08:26.660 --> 00:08:32.820
So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to 'Ali, "Show me where it is,"

00:08:32.820 --> 00:08:37.820
And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) erased it with his own noble hand.

00:08:37.820 --> 00:08:45.519
'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) also took part in the Battle of Khaybar alongside the Prophet (peace be upon him),

00:08:45.519 --> 00:08:48.519
Where he had a celebrated feat

00:08:48.519 --> 00:08:52.519
Envied by everyone present on that day.

00:08:52.519 --> 00:09:00.519
Each day, the Prophet (peace be upon him) had been handing the banner to one of the heroes among the Companions

00:09:00.519 --> 00:09:02.519
Over the course of several days,

00:09:02.519 --> 00:09:07.649
Yet some of Khaybar's fortresses remained unconquered.

00:09:07.649 --> 00:09:11.649
On one of the nights of this great campaign,

00:09:11.649 --> 00:09:15.649
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to his companions:

00:09:15.649 --> 00:09:22.649
"Tomorrow I will surely give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love;

00:09:22.649 --> 00:09:25.649
He will not return until victory is granted through him."

00:09:25.649 --> 00:09:30.710
Many of the Companions hoped that they would be that man,

00:09:30.710 --> 00:09:34.710
So much so that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

00:09:34.710 --> 00:09:38.840
"I never desired leadership except on that day."

00:09:38.840 --> 00:09:42.840
The men spent their night wondering who would receive this honor,

00:09:42.840 --> 00:09:47.840
And in the morning, they went to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him),

00:09:47.840 --> 00:09:50.840
Each of them hoping it would be given to him.

00:09:50.840 --> 00:09:54.840
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked:

00:09:54.840 --> 00:09:56.840
"Where is 'Ali ibn Abi Talib?"

00:09:56.840 --> 00:10:01.840
It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, he is sick with an ailment in his eyes."

00:10:01.840 --> 00:10:03.840
So they sent for him,

00:10:03.840 --> 00:10:07.840
And Muhammad ibn Maslamah brought him, leading him by the hand.

00:10:07.840 --> 00:10:11.840
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) spat lightly into his eyes

00:10:11.840 --> 00:10:13.840
And prayed for him,

00:10:13.840 --> 00:10:17.840
And he was instantly healed as though he had never suffered any pain.

00:10:17.840 --> 00:10:20.840
He then handed him the banner and said to him:

00:10:20.840 --> 00:10:24.840
"Advance steadily until you enter their territory,

00:10:24.840 --> 00:10:26.840
Then invite them to Islam,

00:10:26.840 --> 00:10:30.840
And inform them of their obligations regarding Allah's rights within it.

00:10:30.840 --> 00:10:34.840
For by Allah, that Allah should guide a single man through you

00:10:34.840 --> 00:10:37.840
Is better for you than possessing red camels."

00:10:38.840 --> 00:10:42.840
'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) advanced toward the Jewish fortresses,

00:10:42.840 --> 00:10:44.840
And Marhab stepped forward to meet them—

00:10:44.840 --> 00:10:46.840
One of the Jewish champions

00:10:46.840 --> 00:10:49.840
And their fiercest warrior of all—

00:10:49.840 --> 00:10:51.899
Demanding a duel,

00:10:51.899 --> 00:10:53.899
Chanting his battle verses:

00:10:53.899 --> 00:10:56.899
"Khaybar well knows that I am Marhab,

00:10:56.899 --> 00:10:59.899
Fully armed, a battle-tested champion,

00:10:59.899 --> 00:11:04.000
When wars advance ablaze with flames."

00:11:04.000 --> 00:11:07.000
'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) marched out against him,

00:11:07.000 --> 00:11:09.000
Reciting in return:

00:11:09.000 --> 00:11:12.000
"I am the one whose mother named him Haydarah,

00:11:12.000 --> 00:11:16.000
Like a fierce lion of the forest, terrifying to behold,

00:11:16.000 --> 00:11:19.000
Repaying them fully in bountiful measure."

00:11:19.000 --> 00:11:22.100
The two heroic knights clashed,

00:11:22.100 --> 00:11:25.100
Locking in fierce single combat

00:11:25.100 --> 00:11:28.100
And trading terrifying blows,

00:11:28.100 --> 00:11:30.100
While both armies

00:11:30.100 --> 00:11:34.100
watching closely to see the outcome of this duel.

00:11:34.100 --> 00:11:36.100
Thereupon, 'Ali

00:11:36.100 --> 00:11:39.100
struck Marhab's head, cleaving it in two,

00:11:39.100 --> 00:11:41.100
and Marhab was slain.

00:11:41.100 --> 00:11:43.100
The Muslims proclaimed the takbir,

00:11:43.100 --> 00:11:45.100
the Jewish forces were routed,

00:11:45.100 --> 00:11:47.740
and victory was achieved at his hands.

00:11:47.740 --> 00:11:51.740
When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, resolved

00:11:51.740 --> 00:11:53.740
to conquer Makkah,

00:11:53.740 --> 00:11:57.740
he prayed to Allah Almighty to conceal their plans from its people,

00:11:57.740 --> 00:12:00.740
so that no fighting would take place among them.

00:12:00.740 --> 00:12:03.740
Then an unforeseen incident occurred:

00:12:03.740 --> 00:12:08.740
Hatib Ibn Abi Balta'ah, may Allah be pleased with him, sent a letter to Quraysh

00:12:08.740 --> 00:12:12.740
informing them of the departure of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

00:12:12.740 --> 00:12:14.740
and his march toward them,

00:12:14.740 --> 00:12:17.740
dispatching the letter with a woman.

00:12:17.740 --> 00:12:21.799
Divine revelation descended upon the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

00:12:21.799 --> 00:12:23.799
informing him of what Hatib had done.

00:12:23.799 --> 00:12:26.799
So the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, sent

00:12:26.799 --> 00:12:28.799
for 'Ali Ibn Abi Talib,

00:12:28.799 --> 00:12:30.799
al-Zubayr Ibn al-'Awwam,

00:12:30.799 --> 00:12:33.799
and Abu Marthad, may Allah be pleased with them,

00:12:33.799 --> 00:12:38.799
and instructed them: "Go until you reach Rawdat Khakh,

00:12:38.799 --> 00:12:44.799
for there is a woman there carrying a letter from Hatib Ibn Abi Balta'ah to the polytheists;

00:12:44.799 --> 00:12:46.799
bring it to me."

00:12:46.799 --> 00:12:49.799
The three rode off on their horses

00:12:49.799 --> 00:12:54.799
until they intercepted the woman right where the Prophet, peace be upon him, had told them.

00:12:54.799 --> 00:12:56.799
They said to her:

00:12:56.799 --> 00:12:58.799
"Where is the letter in your possession?"

00:12:58.799 --> 00:13:01.830
She replied: "I have no letter with me."

00:13:01.830 --> 00:13:03.830
So they made her camel kneel,

00:13:03.830 --> 00:13:05.830
searched her luggage,

00:13:05.830 --> 00:13:07.830
but found nothing.

00:13:07.830 --> 00:13:10.830
Al-Zubayr and Abu Marthad said:

00:13:10.830 --> 00:13:12.830
"We do not see any letter with her."

00:13:12.830 --> 00:13:14.830
'Ali said to them:

00:13:14.830 --> 00:13:19.830
"You well know that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, has not lied!"

00:13:19.830 --> 00:13:23.830
Then 'Ali swore an oath, saying:

00:13:23.830 --> 00:13:25.830
"By Allah, you will either produce the letter,

00:13:25.830 --> 00:13:27.830
or we will strip you of your clothes!"

00:13:27.830 --> 00:13:30.929
At that point, she told them: "Turn away,"

00:13:30.929 --> 00:13:35.929
took it out from between the braids of her hair, and handed it over to them.

00:13:35.929 --> 00:13:39.929
They brought it to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

00:13:39.929 --> 00:13:43.990
and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked Hatib:

00:13:43.990 --> 00:13:46.990
"What prompted you to do what you did?"

00:13:46.990 --> 00:13:48.990
Hatib offered his apology,

00:13:48.990 --> 00:13:51.990
and the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, accepted his excuse,

00:13:51.990 --> 00:13:56.990
saying: "He has spoken the truth; do not say anything of him except good."

00:13:56.990 --> 00:13:59.600
During the Battle of Hunayn,

00:13:59.600 --> 00:14:02.600
when the people were exposed and routed,

00:14:02.600 --> 00:14:06.600
having fallen into the ambush laid for them by the people of al-Ta'if,

00:14:06.600 --> 00:14:10.600
the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, moved toward the right

00:14:10.600 --> 00:14:12.600
and proclaimed:

00:14:12.600 --> 00:14:14.600
"To me, O people!

00:14:14.600 --> 00:14:16.600
Come to me!

00:14:16.600 --> 00:14:18.600
I am the Messenger of Allah!

00:14:18.600 --> 00:14:20.600
I am Muhammad Ibn 'Abdillah!"

00:14:20.600 --> 00:14:23.629
In those critical moments, none remained with him

00:14:23.629 --> 00:14:27.629
save a small band of the Companions and his household,

00:14:27.629 --> 00:14:31.629
among whom was 'Ali Ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him.

00:14:31.629 --> 00:14:34.629
They fought fiercely against the polytheists and resisted,

00:14:34.629 --> 00:14:37.629
and the Muslims rallied around them

00:14:37.629 --> 00:14:41.629
until Allah decreed for them a manifest victory.

00:14:41.629 --> 00:14:43.629
During the fighting,

00:14:43.629 --> 00:14:45.629
there was at the forefront of Hawazin

00:14:45.629 --> 00:14:47.629
a man of massive build

00:14:47.629 --> 00:14:49.629
riding a red camel,

00:14:49.629 --> 00:14:52.629
bearing a black banner in his hand.

00:14:52.629 --> 00:14:56.629
Whenever he caught up with someone ahead of him, he impaled him with it,

00:14:56.629 --> 00:14:58.629
and if anyone bypassed him,

00:14:58.629 --> 00:15:01.629
he thrust it back at him, stabbing him in the back,

00:15:01.629 --> 00:15:04.629
inflicting heavy casualties among the people.

00:15:04.629 --> 00:15:08.629
So 'Ali Ibn Abi Talib and a man from the Ansar lay in wait for him,

00:15:08.629 --> 00:15:10.629
both intending to strike him down.

00:15:10.629 --> 00:15:12.629
'Ali came upon him from behind

00:15:12.629 --> 00:15:16.629
and slashed the hock of the camel,

00:15:16.629 --> 00:15:18.629
causing it to collapse onto its haunches.

00:15:18.629 --> 00:15:21.629
Then the Ansari leapt at the man

00:15:21.629 --> 00:15:26.629
and struck him a blow that severed his foot along with half his shin,

00:15:26.629 --> 00:15:29.629
leaving him sprawled on the ground, covered in his own blood.

00:15:29.629 --> 00:15:31.629
The battle raged on

00:15:31.629 --> 00:15:36.269
until the polytheists suffered defeat.

00:15:36.269 --> 00:15:41.269
'Ali did not participate in the expedition of Tabuk alongside the Muslims,

00:15:41.269 --> 00:15:43.269
the reason being

00:15:43.269 --> 00:15:46.269
that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

00:15:46.269 --> 00:15:49.299
left him behind in charge of his household in Madinah.

00:15:49.299 --> 00:15:52.299
'Ali said: "O Messenger of Allah,

00:15:52.299 --> 00:15:55.299
are you leaving me behind with the women and children?"

00:15:55.299 --> 00:15:59.299
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, replied:

00:15:59.299 --> 00:16:04.299
"Are you not pleased to hold the same station to me as Aaron did to Moses,

00:16:04.299 --> 00:16:07.299
except that there will be no prophet after me?"

00:16:07.299 --> 00:16:10.980
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, had written

00:16:10.980 --> 00:16:13.980
a letter to the people of Najran,

00:16:13.980 --> 00:16:15.980
inviting them therein to Islam,

00:16:15.980 --> 00:16:18.980
or to pay the jizyah, or to face war.

00:16:18.980 --> 00:16:22.980
The people of Najran were deeply alarmed by this,

00:16:22.980 --> 00:16:27.980
and they dispatched a delegation to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

00:16:27.980 --> 00:16:30.980
consisting of sixty men.

00:16:30.980 --> 00:16:33.980
When the delegation arrived in Madinah,

00:16:33.980 --> 00:16:39.980
they began disputing with the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, concerning 'Isa, peace be upon him,

00:16:39.980 --> 00:16:44.980
while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, recited the Qur'an to them

00:16:44.980 --> 00:16:47.980
and refuted their falsehood with clear proof.

00:16:47.980 --> 00:16:49.980
When they were overcome by argument,

00:16:49.980 --> 00:16:54.980
they challenged the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to a mutual imprecation (mubahalah),

00:16:54.980 --> 00:16:58.980
and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, agreed,

00:16:58.980 --> 00:17:00.980
and Allah Almighty revealed verses concerning it.

00:17:00.980 --> 00:17:03.980
When the appointed day arrived,

00:17:03.980 --> 00:17:06.980
the Christians came in their crowds,

00:17:06.980 --> 00:17:09.980
and the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, came forth

00:17:09.980 --> 00:17:14.980
accompanied by 'Ali Ibn Abi Talib, al-Hasan, and al-Husayn,

00:17:14.980 --> 00:17:15.980
and said:

00:17:15.980 --> 00:17:18.980
"O Allah, these are my household."

00:17:18.980 --> 00:17:23.039
When al-'Aqib, the chief of the Christians, saw them,

00:17:23.039 --> 00:17:26.039
he said to those with him: "Do not enter into mutual imprecation with him,

00:17:26.039 --> 00:17:28.039
for if you do,

00:17:28.039 --> 00:17:31.039
this valley will blaze with fire upon you!

00:17:31.039 --> 00:17:34.039
Muhammad is indeed a messenger sent by Allah,

00:17:34.039 --> 00:17:39.039
and you know that he has brought you the decisive truth concerning 'Isa."

00:17:39.039 --> 00:17:41.039
So they abandoned the mubahalah

00:17:41.039 --> 00:17:43.039
and returned to their land

00:17:43.039 --> 00:17:47.039
after agreeing to pay the jizyah to the Muslims.

00:17:47.039 --> 00:17:50.710
In the next episode, by Allah's leave,

00:17:50.710 --> 00:17:54.710
we will explore the stances of 'Ali, may Allah be pleased with him,

00:17:54.710 --> 00:17:58.710
during the final days of the Beloved, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

00:17:58.710 --> 00:18:02.710
and during the eras of the Rightly Guided Caliphs who preceded him,

00:18:02.710 --> 00:18:04.710
if Allah wills.

00:18:15.470 --> 00:18:19.539
May they dwell in the Gardens of Eternity,

00:18:19.539 --> 00:18:22.539
their honor ever increased:

00:18:22.539 --> 00:18:25.539
Talhah,

00:18:25.539 --> 00:18:27.539
Ibn 'Awf,

00:18:27.539 --> 00:18:29.539
al-Zubayr,

00:18:29.539 --> 00:18:31.539
along with

00:18:31.539 --> 00:18:33.539
Abu 'Ubaydah,

00:18:33.539 --> 00:18:35.539
the two Sa'ds,

00:18:35.539 --> 00:18:38.539
and the Caliphs.
