Among the beauties of the Prophetic biography (Seerah).
Fairness toward one’s own self.
Despite the harshness of the claimant and the rudeness of the intruder.
He did not deprive him of his right.
Nor did He deny his need.
Nor did He unleash His soldiers upon him.
Rather, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, acknowledged his right and his request.
And he increased it with kindness and excellence.
In the Sahih.
A man demanded a debt from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
He spoke to him harshly.
His Companions intended to deal with him.
But he said, "Leave him."
"For the owner of a right has a claim to speak."
They bought a camel for him and gave it to him.
They said, "We only find one that is better than his age."
He said, "Buy it and give it to him."
"For the best of you is the best of you in repayment."
Here, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, gathered the noblest of character traits.
He was fair to him from his own self.
He acknowledged his right.
He pardoned his harshness.
He paid off his debt.
He excelled in the repayment.
And he taught his Companions how to accommodate opponents and be patient with them.
For the best of you is the best of you in repayment.
Who among us can reach this station?
And transcend the interests of his own self.
And the grandeur of status, prestige, and lineage.
It is the glorious personality refined by revelation.
Illuminated by the lights of the Shari'ah.
Seeking what is with Allah.
Where good character became a supreme value.
Surpassing wealth, prestige, and fortune.
It does not care for the talk of people.
Nor the incitement of those sitting around.
Or that such behavior is a rejected sign of weakness.
Never.
It rises above all of that.
And in the Qur'an.
“The (faithful) slaves of the Beneficent are they who walk upon the earth modestly, and when the foolish ones address them answer: Peace;” (25:63)
We ask Allah the Exalted for His bounty.
