Lowering the gaze.
Lowering the gaze brings about the purification and sanctity of the soul.
As Allah the Almighty has said:
“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and be modest. That is purer for them. Lo! Allah is aware of what they do.” (24:30)
"That is purer for them."
In order for a person to achieve this,
he must employ preventative measures against letting his gaze wander
and looking upon the private parts of women,
by following these steps:
First:
Avoid places where there is intermingling with immodestly dressed women,
such as mixed beaches,
as well as mixed parks and marketplaces.
Second:
Beware of magazines, satellite channels, and social media platforms
that disseminate content which incites temptation and base desires.
Third:
Always remember the hadith of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him:
"The eyes commit zina, and their zina is the gaze."
And he, peace be upon him, said at the end of it:
"And the private parts either confirm that or deny it."
