A new challenge: Who am I?
I am one of the female Companions.
I am an Ansar woman from the Banu al-Najjar.
I was among the first to embrace Islam.
I am the paternal grandmother.
I am the mother of seven men.
All of them witnessed the Battle of Badr with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
Among them is my father, who killed Abu Jahl.
He was martyred in that same battle.
My supplications were always answered.
I embraced Islam in Medina before the Prophet, peace be upon him, migrated there.
I was a young girl at the time.
When the Prophet, peace be upon him, arrived in Medina,
and stayed at the house of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him,
I went out with the young girls of the Banu al-Najjar.
We were overjoyed at his arrival, peace be upon him.
We were chanting:
"We are young girls from the Banu al-Najjar,
How wonderful it is to have Muhammad as a neighbor!"
The Prophet, peace be upon him, replied:
"Allah knows that I truly love you all."
The Prophet, peace be upon him, used to honor the Ansar and their children,
giving them every care and attention.
I belong to a family known for their noble deeds from the very first day they knew Islam.
I participated with the Muslims in the Battle of Badr.
I contributed effectively by providing water to the sick and treating the wounded.
My six uncles also participated in Badr,
where two of them were martyred.
My father also witnessed Badr,
where he killed Abu Jahl,
and then fought until he was martyred, may Allah be pleased with him.
We left the polytheists in grief and pain on the day of Badr.
Later, I went out with the Prophet, peace be upon him, for the 'Umrah.
I pledged allegiance to him at the Pledge of Ridwan under the tree.
I accompanied him on his military expeditions along with the other women.
We would provide water to the people, serve them, and tend to the wounded.
We would transport the fallen and the wounded back to Medina.
I was blessed with the attention and care of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
He visited me on the morning of my wedding to honor me,
and to teach the women what is good for them in this world and the Hereafter.
I used to gift the Prophet, peace be upon him, the food he liked.
He, peace be upon him, would eat at my home, accept my gift, and honor me.
