I saw that I was in strong armor
So I gave it to the city
I saw cows being slaughtered
So cows, by God, are good

On the authority of Jaber bin Abdullah, may God be pleased with them both, he said

On the authority of Jabir, may God be pleased with him, he said
The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
If we had stayed in the city
If they enter upon us therein, we will fight them
The opinion of those who did not witness Badr
So a group of the virtuous Companions, may God be pleased with them, took the initiative
Whoever missed going out on the day of Badr

They said, O Messenger of God
By God, we did not have anything to do with it during the pre-Islamic era
How can we enter into it in Islam?

Your business then
And in Al-Nasa’i’s narration in Al-Sunan Al-Kubra with an authentic chain of narration
They said, "They will enter the city upon us."

Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir said
Many people refused to go out to join the enemy

If they were satisfied with the one who commanded them, that would be the case
But fate and destiny prevailed
And in general those who indicated to him to leave
