In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Abridgment of the book: Ramadan: Events and Lessons. The Passing of Sheikh Hasan al-Ghurab. The twenty-third day of Ramadan, in the year 1440 AH, corresponding to the twenty-eighth of the fifth month, in the year 2019 AD. I had finished compiling this book, which contains thirty events from the history of Ramadan, on the afternoon of Friday, the twenty-second of Rajab, in the year 1440 AH, corresponding to the twenty-ninth of the third month, in the year 2019 AD. I had resolved to publish it via social media before printing it, specifically on WhatsApp during Ramadan of the same year, through daily episodes posted in the groups on my phone. It was my custom to post one episode every morning during Ramadan. On Tuesday, the twenty-third of Ramadan, while I was opening my phone to post the episode on the death of Imam al-Muzani, may Allah have mercy on him, I was suddenly struck by this news: The death of the scholar and Hafiz, Hasan al-Ghurab, and his wife, in a tragic car accident on the al-'Abr road. That news was profoundly painful to our hearts, due to the Sheikh’s standing in the souls of those who loved him, and because of the suddenness of his death and that of his wife, without any preceding illness or the like. It was also because the Sheikh was so eager to reach his place of seclusion (i'tikaf), which was awaiting him in Ibb, for which he had prepared, and for which he had sent me pictures. We had read those messages and seen those pictures. It was also due to the longing of his loved ones who were waiting for him there, his short life which death snatched away so quickly, the fact that death took him and his wife at the same time, and the injury of some of his children, who woke up without a father or mother. Thus, it was necessary for this event to be added to this book, in fulfillment of the right of my brother and friend, Abu Muhammad, may Allah have mercy on him. His name, lineage, and birth, may Allah have mercy on him: He is Abu Muhammad Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Muqbil al-Ghurab. He was born in the year 1990 AD, in the village of al-Hisn, Ba'dan District, Ibb Governorate, Yemen. His education, studentship, and teachers, may Allah have mercy on him: He studied primary and intermediate school in his region, then moved to study high school at the al-Bayhani Institute for Sharia Sciences in Ibb, and graduated from it in 1999 AD. He then joined Ibb University, Faculty of Arts, Department of Islamic Studies, and graduated in 2005 AD. After that, he joined the Master’s program at Ibb University, and his thesis was titled: "The Supreme Islamic Authority: Between Reality and Aspiration: An Analytical Study." He then enrolled in the doctoral program at the same university, but death preceded his attainment of that worldly degree. As for his pursuit of Sharia knowledge, it was at the al-Bayhani Institute, and in the Sharia courses that were held in the city of Ibb, along with his attendance at the scholarly lessons held in some of the city’s mosques. Among the scholars from whom he received knowledge: Sheikh Dr. Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Mahdi, may Allah preserve him; Sheikh Muhammad ibn 'Ali al-Rahbi, may Allah have mercy on him; Sheikh Dr. 'Abdullah ibn Ghalib al-Humayri, may Allah preserve him; Sheikh Dr. 'Abd al-Nasir al-Sani', may Allah preserve him; Sheikh Dr. 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Isma'il, may Allah preserve him, and others. His scholarly and da'wah activity, may Allah have mercy on him: Sheikh Hasan had a notable scholarly presence through his lessons, his da'wah travels, his scholarly courses, his sermons from the pulpit, and his educational meetings, which were hosted in the city of Ibb and its countryside. He was truly an eloquent speaker who captivated his listeners with the quality of his delivery and the beauty of his style; his death left a sad echo in the hearts of those who heard him and sat with him. His "Preservation of the Two Revelations" program, may Allah have mercy on him: This program is where Abu Muhammad spent the best days of his life, and it was while engaged in it that he passed away. It was the desire of his heart, the focus of his dreams, and the preoccupation of his time and effort—in learning, teaching, managing, and ensuring its success. It was the project of his life, to which he devoted his mental and physical energy for nearly two decades. He died, but his planting did not die with him; rather, it remains after its planter, tended to by faithful guardians and loved ones. Regarding the beginning of his journey with it, he mentioned in one of the interviews that he was establishing a course for memorizing the two Sahihs in al-Hudaydah. Sheikh Hasan was nominated to attend it, so he went there, but the change in climate exhausted him with illness, so he returned to Ibb. He sought help through his mother’s prayers until he returned to al-Hudaydah once more, and he achieved what he desired. He then continued the project of memorizing the Sunnah until he completed its books, which will be mentioned later. After his studies, he devoted himself to managing this scholarly project, serving as the director of the "Two Revelations" Foundation, Yemen branch. For its sake, he traveled between Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The books of Sunnah he used to memorize, may Allah have mercy on him: It is worth noting before listing them that they were all compiled and authored by the scholar Sheikh Yahya ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Yahya, may Allah preserve him. They are as follows: First, "The Compilation of the Two Sahihs for the Hafiz." Second, "The Additions of the Five Sunan to the Two Sahihs," which are the additions of Sunan Abi Dawud to the two Sahihs, the additions of Sunan al-Tirmidhi to the two Sahihs and Sunan Abi Dawud, the additions of Sunan al-Nasa'i to the two Sahihs, Abi Dawud, and al-Tirmidhi, the additions of Sunan Ibn Majah to the two Sahihs, Abi Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, and al-Nasa'i, and the additions of Sunan al-Darimi to the two Sahihs, Abi Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa'i, and Ibn Majah. Third, "The Additions of the Five Musnads to the Two Sahihs and the Five Sunan," which are the additions of Musnad Imam Ahmad to the two Sahihs and the five Sunan, the additions of Musnad Ibn Abi Shaybah to the two Sahihs, the five Sunan, and Musnad Ahmad, the additions of Musnad Ishaq ibn Rahwayh to the two Sahihs, the five Sunan, Musnad Ahmad, and Musnad Ibn Abi Shaybah, the additions of Musnad al-Bazzar to the two Sahihs, the five Sunan, Musnad Ahmad, Musnad Ibn Abi Shaybah, and Musnad Ishaq ibn Rahwayh, and the additions of Musnad Abi Ya'la al-Mawsili to the two Sahihs, the five Sunan, Musnad Ahmad, Musnad Ibn Abi Shaybah, Musnad Ishaq ibn Rahwayh, and Musnad al-Bazzar. Fourth, "The Additions of the Three Sahihs to the Two Sahihs, the Five Sunan, and the Five Musnads," which are the additions of Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah to the aforementioned, the additions of Sahih Ibn Hibban to the aforementioned, and the additions of Mustadrak al-Hakim to the aforementioned. Fifth, "The Additions of the Three Mu'ajams of al-Tabarani to the two Sahihs, the five Sunan, the five Musnads, and the three Sahihs." His passing, may Allah have mercy on him: Ramadan of this year arrived, and Abu Muhammad had prepared himself to travel from the Prophetic City (Madinah) to his city, Ibb, in order to conduct the courses he was overseeing. He prepared himself and gathered his wife and four children in his car. He headed from the Sacred House to perform 'Umrah, and stayed in Makkah for a few days. Then he headed toward his second destination, Ibb. He crossed the Saudi borders, and entered Yemen on Tuesday, the twenty-third of Ramadan, in the year 1440 AH. He reached the al-'Abr region of Hadhramaut Governorate, which is near the city of Ma'rib. There, the messenger of his Lord was waiting for him, to take his soul to the side of the Almighty. A tragic accident occurred in which his car overturned, and he and his wife died at that moment. May Allah have mercy on them. His children survived, may Allah protect them. May Allah have mercy on Abu Muhammad with a vast mercy, and we hope that his end was a good one. We ask Allah to elevate his rank in the highest heavens (Illiyin). On the evening of that sad day, I said: The eye sheds tears and the heart is sorrowful, And the matter in this affliction is indeed grave. The soul is in a state of longing that overwhelms its joy, And the horror is evident on the face of the one who loved him. News that made our morning like our evening, In grief for a loved one whom death has visited. O eye, there is no blame upon you if there flows, A tear pouring down the cheeks. For a man of knowledge who rose in his virtue, And was elevated by the character of the noble and by faith. Hasan al-Ghurab, a man of virtues and noble traits, And great qualities that adorn him. You see him in the horizons of his fine character, Humble, while his honor remains preserved. A mountain of precious memorization, grasping, The texts of the sciences that it contains. He captivated hearts with his love and his traits, So everyone is sad on the day of parting. He passed away in the company of his wife, so I mourn them both, In this decree, inkwells and eyes weep. So upon them be the mercies of my Lord, as long as there flow, Tears from the intensity of the tragedy. And may He water them with the rain of abundant forgiveness, By which they may have a secure life there. And praise be to Allah, by whose grace righteous deeds are completed. And may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, And upon all his family and companions. You can find the original link for this book below the video in the description box.
