It is permissible to call the gift charity, according to Al-Nu’man’s saying, “So my father came back and I returned the charity to you.” The desirability of witnessing the gift, even if it is not obligatory.
The prohibition of bearing witness to injustice and oppression. The Companions, may God be pleased with them, were keen to respond to God and the Messenger if he called them to a matter that involved their lives.
Therefore, Bashir, may God be pleased with him, hastened to redress this injustice, allowing the father to retract his gift to the son, Riyad al-Salihin.
