A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
The sound heart.
The sound heart is that which will benefit its possessor on the Day of Resurrection.
As Allah the Almighty says:
“The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man)” (26:88)
"Except for him who comes to Allah with a sound heart."
It is the quality with which Allah the Almighty described His Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him.
He said:
“And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham” (37:83)
“When he came unto his Lord with a whole heart;” (37:84)
The reality of this sound heart is centered upon two pillars: adornment and detachment.
Adornment with righteous deeds and beliefs of the heart,
Which serve as the foundation for the righteousness of outward actions.
And detachment from corrupt deeds and beliefs of the heart.
Among the most essential forms of detachment
Is being free from objections
That corrupt the heart’s submission to the news of Allah the Almighty in His Book,
And the news of His Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in the authentic Sunnah.
And which corrupt its submission to the legislative and preordained commands of Allah the Almighty.
Also among the forms of detachment
Is being free from corrupt desires
That corrupt the heart’s love and sincerity,
As well as its reliance, fear, and hope in Allah the Almighty.
