In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The echo of the pulpits May Allah be pleased with them, and may they be pleased with Him. A sermon by the honorable Sheikh Khalid Ibn 'Abdullah al-Humudi May Allah preserve him. All praise is due to Allah. “Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness,” (18:1) Manifest the truth through the truth, and bring low the confederates. And He perfected His light, and caused the stratagems of the disbelievers to end in ruin. He sends the winds as a herald of glad tidings before His mercy. And by His grace, He set the clouds in motion. He sent down rain from the sky. From it comes trees, and from it comes drink. “And He it is Who hath appointed night and day in succession, for him who desireth to remember, or desireth thankfulness.” (25:62) So that those endowed with understanding may take heed. And I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, having no partner. The Almighty, the Bestower. The King above all kings and the Lord of all lords. The Just Judge On the Day when the shin shall be laid bare, and lineages shall be set aside. And I bear witness that our master, our prophet, and our beloved, Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is the servant of Allah and His messenger. His chosen one and His intimate friend. The one who seeks forgiveness and frequently turns in repentance to Allah. His character was the Qur'an. And his opinion is the correct one. And his word is the decisive judgment. The role model for all nations. And the pinnacle of high aspirations. And the pearl of those drawn near and the beloved ones. O Lord, send peace and blessings upon Muhammad. And upon his family and the Companions. As long as the winds blow with glad tidings and the clouds drift with goodness. Everything that grows from the earth is considered crops. Or any type of fruit that has ripened and become delicious. O Allah, send peace and blessings upon him. And upon his family and his Companions. And may He grant him abundant peace until the Day of Judgment. To proceed, servants of Allah, I counsel you and my own soul to be mindful of Allah. “And for such of your women as despair of menstruation, if ye doubt, their period (of waiting) shall be three months, along with those who have it not. And for those with child, their period shall be till they bring forth their burden. And whosoever keepeth his duty to Allah, He maketh his course easy for him.” (65:4) O Allah, make us all among Your righteous servants. And make us among Your successful party; O Allah, answer our prayer. Servants of Allah Allah has revealed His noble Book to us. So that it may be a source of guidance for mankind. And through it, He brings them out from the darkness of ignorance. toward the light of knowledge and faith. The Almighty has clarified the purpose behind the revelation of the Qur'an, stating: “(This is) a Scripture that We have revealed unto thee, full of blessing, that they may ponder its revelations, and that men of understanding may reflect.” (38:29) So that they may reflect upon its verses. And let those of understanding take heed. Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, says: Allah has guaranteed that whoever recites the Qur'an and acts upon what is contained within it [will not go astray]. So that he does not go astray in this world. And he shall not be wretched in the Hereafter. And today, O servants of Allah, We shall discuss a remarkable verse. A verse that has been repeated in the Qur'an. In four instances. And by Allah, O servants of Allah, If we were to reflect upon and contemplate this verse in particular And the Qur'an, in general. to transform our state. And may we be successful and happy in this world and the Hereafter. For Allah, the Exalted, says: "Ta-Ha." “We have not revealed unto thee (Muhammad) this Qur'an that thou shouldst be distressed,” (20:2) This verse, O servants of Allah, Which, as we have mentioned, is repeated in four places throughout the Qur'an. It was repeated in Surah al-Ma'idah. Or it was mentioned in Surah al-Ma'idah. And Surah al-Tawbah. And Surah al-Mujadilah And Surah al-Bayyinah This verse It is the statement of Allah, the Majestic in His Exaltedness. May Allah be pleased with them. And may Allah be pleased with him. This verse It consists of two parts. The first. It is Allah’s pleasure with the servant. And this is what we strive for. To Him belongs everything, and to Him it shall all return. And I believe That this aspect This concept is understood by everyone. The second point is This is the most difficult part. This is what I intended to focus on. upon him, and the hadith concerning him. This is the statement of Allah. And He is pleased with them. And here is the question. Are you content with your Lord? That is a difficult question. Is that not the case? O servant of Allah. O blessed and beloved one. Leave me be. Let me rephrase the question. Do you know What is the meaning of being content? from your Lord Being content with Allah. It is submission and contentment. With everything that Allah has apportioned for you. “The likeness of that which they spend in this life of the world is as the likeness of a biting, icy wind which smiteth the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves, and devastateth it. Allah wronged them not, but they do wrong themselves.” (3:117) Whether it be good or evil. Being content with Allah. This means that if you are afflicted by something Your Lord is a trial. Your heart became filled with certainty. Indeed, your Lord She intended good for you. Through this trial. Being content with Allah. This means that you should cease your complaining. For mankind. And entrust your affairs to Allah. And you pour out your complaints to Him. Being content with Allah. This means that you should be content with your Lord. If He gives you And you are content with your Lord even when He withholds from you. And you are content with your Lord when He enriches you. And you are pleased with your Lord when He takes something away from you. And that you are pleased with your Lord. If you are in good health, And if you are in a state of illness And if your offspring prevent you [from doing good]. And that you be pleased with your Lord. If you are afflicted with distress. And the distress. And the religion. That you are pleased with your Lord in all of your circumstances. Look around you. And ask yourself. Are you content with your appearance? And show appreciation to your wife and your family. This is your station. All of these matters Allah has chosen it for you. Are you, then, content with what Allah has chosen for you? It is there, O ‘Abdullah. Five important points. We must understand it. As we reflect upon the meanings of the Qur'an, Regarding this verse Firstly, Being content with Allah. It is not contradictory. I begin with the pain. Which you may sometimes feel. For one reason or another. For we are but human beings. This worldly life is but a fleeting passage. This world is a place of trial. And no one shall be safe from it. One For he is the best of Allah’s creation. He wept. At the time of his son’s passing. Secondly, there is a difference Between patience and contentment. Contentment, therefore, is... A rank higher than patience. You are patient. This means that you must endure the pain. For this is your true worth. And you have nothing in your hand. There is nothing like patience. However, contentment That you show gratitude to Allah. Upon this pain. Because you know That the choice of Allah It is better for you. Among the best choices you can make for yourself. Thirdly, Being content with Allah. A lofty station. It cannot be reached. Except for the one whose heart has been filled. For the sake of Allah. There are people all around us When they pass by In whatever hardship. Do not listen to them repeating it. Except for the words of the noble Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. I am pleased with Allah as my Lord. and with Islam as a religion. And through Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. as a prophet and a messenger. How magnificent is such faith. How magnificent is such certainty. That you are pleased with Allah. In all of your circumstances. Fourthly, Know, O servant of Allah, Know this with the certainty of conviction. Indeed, Allah He does not afflict you except to forgive your sins, or to elevate your rank in Paradise. O servant of Allah, be with your Lord in every state. And for this reason, it has been narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, as recorded by Ibn Hibban with a hasan (sound) chain, that he said—may my father and mother be sacrificed for him— "A man may have a position with Allah that is high and lofty in Paradise, which he cannot attain through his deeds, so Allah tests him with what he dislikes until He brings him to that station." Fifthly, a person, if he is not content with his Lord, even if he possessed the entire world, he would never be satisfied. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Whoever is content, for him is contentment, and whoever is resentful, upon him is resentment." He will remain resentful toward everything, and he will live his life in misery, distress, and gloom. Reflect on your life, O servant of Allah, and ask yourself: Are you content with Allah? Always and forever say: "O Allah, I am content with You, so be content with me." Watch what comes from your words and your actions. If you are among those who never stop complaining and grumbling, know that you are among the most miserable of people, and that you are in danger, so re-examine yourself. Whenever the world feels narrow for you, be content with Allah and say: "I am content with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, as a Prophet and Messenger." Remember, O blessed beloved, that contentment with Allah is the path to Allah’s contentment with you. Draw near to Allah with everything that increases you in love for Allah. For if you love Allah, you will love His decree and His predestination, and you will be content with His choice regarding what Allah chooses, regarding what Allah chooses for you. O blessed beloved, know that what Allah has chosen for you is better than what you have chosen for yourself. And remember that what has befallen you could not have missed you, and what has missed you could not have befallen you. Rather, everything is by the decree and predestination of Allah, and His knowledge and wisdom. So be content, O servant of Allah, with Allah, and your life will be pleasant in this world and the Hereafter. And always and forever remember: "Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him." "Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him." O Allah, be pleased with us. O Allah, be pleased with us. O Allah, be pleased with us and grant us contentment, and take our souls while You are pleased with us. May Allah bless me and you through the Great Qur'an, and benefit me and you with what is in it. “This (which) We recite unto thee is a revelation and a wise reminder.” (3:58) I say what you hear, and I ask Allah for forgiveness for me and for you, so seek His forgiveness; indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. To proceed, O servants of Allah: Among the fruits of contentment is our conduct and our ethics. It was said to a man: "We do not see you finding fault with anyone." He replied: "I am not content with my own self to be free to find fault with people." So where are those who amuse themselves by slandering the honor of others in gatherings? A son said to his father: "O father, the garbage man is at the door." The father replied: "O my son, we are the owners of the garbage, and he is the owner of cleanliness; he has come to help us." A lesson the son learns from this is respect for words, because some people are deprived. I will give you some examples to show you some of those who are deprived of much good. The night is nearly eleven hours long, and some cannot pray the Witr prayer, even a single rak'ah, which perhaps would not take him three minutes. Is this person not deprived? The night, or the day and the night, is twenty-four hours; some are unable to read a portion of the Qur'an, which does not take more than thirty minutes, or perhaps even less than that. Is this person not deprived? The truly deprived, O servants of Allah, is the one who knows that he has a tongue that does not tire, yet he does not remember Allah in his day at all. Some even say to me: "By Allah, you do not remember Allah unless you are swearing an oath." And thus, life passes us by while we are in a state of heedlessness regarding our affairs, wasting and squandering our time. Among the signs of contentment, O servants of Allah, is that the effect of the Qur'an appears upon you. It is not the point how far you have reached in the Qur'an, how far you have reached in reading the Qur'an, nor is the point how much you have memorized of the Qur'an. Rather, the point is how far the Qur'an has reached within you. The point is what effect the Qur'an has had on you. Do not tell people how much of the Qur'an you have read, but let them see in you a Qur'an walking upon the earth; for this is one of the greatest forms of contentment. O Allah, we ask You for Your pleasure and Paradise. O Allah, we ask You for Your pleasure. O Allah, we ask You for Your pleasure and Paradise, and we seek refuge in You from Your displeasure and from the Fire. O Allah, be pleased with us. O Allah, be pleased with us, grant us contentment, and take our souls while You are pleased with us. O Allah, make us content with Your decree and predestination. Make us among those who, when blessed, are grateful, when tested, are patient, and when they sin, seek forgiveness. O Allah, forgive our sins, And cover our faults. And conclude our deeds with righteousness. O Allah, grant us security in our homelands. And rectify our leaders. And those in authority over us. O Allah, grant us success in every deed. That You love and are pleased with. Adorn us with Your beautiful covering. And beneath that covering, place a deed. That is righteous and pleasing to You. Rectify our intentions and our offspring. Relieve the distress of the distressed. And remove the anguish of the anguished. And settle the debts of those in debt. And heal our sick and the sick of the Muslims. And have mercy on our dead and the dead of the Muslims. And specifically include among them our fathers. And our mothers. And all the Muslims. By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy. O Lord, we have called upon You. Just as You commanded us. In this blessed hour. And on this blessed day. And in this blessed place. So grant us what we have hoped for. And even more than we have hoped for. Of the good of this world. And the Hereafter. And send peace upon our master Muhammad. And upon all his family and companions. And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
