In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The echo of the pulpits The name of Allah, al-Sabur (the Patient). A sermon by the honorable Sheikh. Khalid Ibn 'Abdullah al-Humudi May Allah preserve him. All praise is due to Allah. Praise be to Allah, as numerous as the nights and the ages. And the days and the months. All praise is due to Allah, in number equal to the waves of the seas. All praise is due to Allah, in number equal to the leaves upon the trees. And as numerous as the grains of sand and the stones. And the number of blossoms and fruits. And the number of the breaths of mankind. All praise is due to Allah, abundantly, abundantly, and abundantly. Just as he bestows many blessings. And I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, having no partner. We worship none but Him. And we place our hope in none but Allah. He is sufficient for us. He is our Protector. There is no refuge and no escape from Him except unto Him. I have surrendered to Allah a matter of which I have no knowledge. I do not have the strength to bear it, yet I shall accept it willingly. O Lord, were it not for You, I would have no support and no one to turn to. You are sufficient for me, and it is sufficient for me that You are Allah. And I bear witness that our master, our prophet, and our beloved, Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is the servant of Allah and His messenger. His chosen one and His intimate friend. The best of the saints. And the most righteous of the chosen ones. And the most excellent of the prophets The world has never known a love like the love of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. A love whose transcendence surpassed all bounds. Whoever has not tasted the sweetness of His love in this life How could he possibly find a source of love? O Lord, make us happy by granting us the vision of His countenance. Indeed, the longing grew ever more fervent with the passage of life. May the blessings of our Lord be upon you for as long as the sun rises. The sun has risen, yet the worshippers have not responded to the call. O Allah, send peace, blessings, and increase upon him. upon Your servant, Your messenger, Your prophet, and Your beloved, Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. And upon his family and his Companions. And whoever is guided by His guidance He followed his Sunnah and walked in his footsteps. And may He grant him abundant peace until the Day of Judgment. To proceed, O servants of Allah: I advise you and myself to be mindful of Allah. “O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him)” (3:102) “O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him)” (3:102) O you who believe in Allah and His Messenger Beloved brothers and sisters, Indeed, knowledge of the Beautiful Names of Allah and His Attributes It cultivates in the heart proper etiquette toward Allah and a sense of modesty before Him. True etiquette toward Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, is to uphold His religion. And to observe the proper etiquette of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, both outwardly and inwardly. It is not possible for anyone, under any circumstances, to remain upright. Proper etiquette in one's relationship with Allah. except through three things. The first of them is: His knowledge of His names and attributes. The second of these is His knowledge of his religion and its sacred law. And what He loves and what He dislikes. The third of these is a soul that is prepared. It is flexible and gentle. Prepared to accept the truth. In terms of knowledge, action, and spiritual state. And among the names of Allah that we ought to learn And we grasp their meanings and their effects. The name of Allah, al-Sabur (the Patient). And the name [of Allah] is al-Sabur (the Patient). This is derived from the statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: There is no one more patient in hearing an offense than Allah. They attribute children to Him. Then He grants them well-being and provides for them. It was recorded by al-Bukhari. And it is recorded in the Sahih. On the authority of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that he said: There is no one more patient in hearing an offense than Allah. They attribute to Him a child and a partner. He provides for them and grants them well-being. Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. Al-Khattabi, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The Patient (Al-Sabur) He is the One who does not hasten to take retribution upon those who disobey Him. Rather, He defers that until an appointed time. And He grants them respite until an appointed time. Ibn Hajar stated in al-Fath: And the Patient. He who does not hasten to punish the disobedient. Or the one whom the carriage cannot carry. regarding the dispute to the action before its proper time. And Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: And His patience, may He be exalted. The patience of a created being is distinct from, and incomparable to, the patience of Allah. From various perspectives. From among them. He possesses absolute power. Among these are That he does not fear the succor. The servant only hastens out of fear that the time for seeking aid will pass. Among these [reasons] is That he is not reached by his patience. Did He not? And there shall be no grief. And there is no deficiency. By means of both of them. Beloved brothers and sisters, How immense is the forbearance of Allah toward His servants. And how long is the respite granted by Allah. And if people were to take Regarding the first crime. And the inception of sin “If Allah took mankind to task by that which they deserve, He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He reprieveth them unto an appointed term, and when their term cometh - then verily (they will know that) Allah is ever Seer of His slaves.” (35:45) Out of His justice and equity. Yet He is the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful. He is Kind and Generous. He is patient. He, the Glorified, says: “Thy Lord is the Forgiver, Full of Mercy. If He took them to task (now) for what they earn, He would hasten on the doom for them; but theirs is an appointed term from which they will find no escape.” (18:58) “Thy Lord is the Forgiver, Full of Mercy. If He took them to task (now) for what they earn, He would hasten on the doom for them; but theirs is an appointed term from which they will find no escape.” (18:58) May the punishment be hastened for them. Rather, they have an appointed time. So that they may find no refuge apart from Him. And Allah is patient with His servants. It takes on various forms. Among these examples is the following. His patience in the face of the people’s disbelief in their Lord. And their reviling of him. And speaking about Him [Allah] in ways that do not befit Him, and attributing to Him that which is not His. Allah, glorified be He, said regarding these people And they said, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Glory be to Allah. How bold they are toward Allah! And they said, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." “Assuredly ye utter a disastrous thing” (19:89) The heavens are almost ready to burst asunder. They are nearly rent asunder by it. And the earth shall split open. And the mountains shall crumble into dust. Would they attribute a child to the Most Merciful? And He is the Patient. against the harm of His enemies They insulted him. Rather, they attributed it to falsehood. They said to him, "He has a son." And He does not bring us back. [It is] an act of reviling and denial on the part of man. He hears and knows both this and that. Had He so willed, He would have hastened their humiliation. However, He grants them well-being. And He provides for them while they are They offend Him with polytheism and disbelief. It is also established in the Sahih. Allah the Exalted says The son of Adam has lied. Yet he did not have the authority to do so. And the son of Adam reviles Me. And he did not have the right to do that. As for his accusing me of lying, His statement, therefore, He shall restore me just as He originated me. And the initial creation is not easier for Me than bringing it back again. As for his insulting me His statement, therefore, I have a son. And I am the one. Sunday The One, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is He begotten. “And there is none comparable unto Him.” (112:4) It was recorded by al-Bukhari. And among the manifestations of His—glory be to Him—forbearance toward His servants His patience with those who took unto themselves rivals and partners alongside Allah. They worship them instead of Allah. He does not hasten their punishment. And he leaves the opportunity for them. And He grants them respite. And when they return to him before their repentance Otherwise, had He so willed, He seized them with the seizing of an Almighty, All-Powerful One. After he has established the proof and evidence against them. There are those who make requests of the created. That which none but the Creator has the power to do. Whether this created being is Whether alive or deceased. A prophet or a saint. Or an angel, or a jinn. Or others besides them. Such as when he asks Him to heal his sick person. Or granting him victory over the enemies. Or relieving his distress. Or that he comes to his aid. Or that he seeks refuge for him with Allah. And other matters besides these. Something that none but Allah has the power to do. All of this constitutes major shirk. An act that excludes one from the fold of the faith. By the consensus of the Muslims. This is because he called upon someone other than Allah. And he sought his aid. And he sought refuge in Him. All of this constitutes an act of worship. It is not permissible to direct worship to anyone other than Allah, by the consensus of the Muslims. Directing it to other than Him is shirk, because one has attributed to this created being that which only Allah has the power to do. And there are those who do not seek judgment from His religion and His law, but rather take the laws of the earth as a methodology, an example, and a guiding light, while the methodology of Allah is more upright, better, and more enduring. Among the manifestations of Allah’s patience with His servants is that they commit sins and evil deeds, yet He does not hasten their punishment. Rather, He leaves them the opportunity after opportunity, so that perhaps they may repent to Him and return to Him. And He, glory be to Him, is capable of hastening their punishment, but He is patient out of His mercy. Listen, O servants of Allah, to this remarkable hadith. On the authority of ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: There came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, an old, decrepit man, whose eyebrows had fallen over his eyes, and he was leaning on a staff, meaning he was supported by a staff, until he stood before the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "What do you think of a man who has committed all sins, leaving out no major or minor transgression without committing it? If his sins were divided among the people of the earth, they would destroy them," meaning they would ruin them. "Is there any repentance for him?" The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Have you embraced Islam?" He said: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that you are the Messenger of Allah." He said: "Do good deeds, and abandon evil deeds, and Allah will make them all for you as good deeds." He said: "And my treacheries and my wickedness, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Yes, and your treacheries and your wickedness." So he said: "Allah is the Greatest! Allah is the Greatest!" Then he leaned on his staff, and he kept repeating: "Allah is the Greatest! Allah is the Greatest!" until he disappeared from sight. Al-Albani classified it as authentic. He, glory be to Him, said: ﴾And if Allah were to impose blame on the people for what they have earned...﴿ “If Allah took mankind to task by that which they deserve, He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He reprieveth them unto an appointed term, and when their term cometh - then verily (they will know that) Allah is ever Seer of His slaves.” (35:45) But He delays them until a specified term. And when their term comes... “If Allah took mankind to task by that which they deserve, He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He reprieveth them unto an appointed term, and when their term cometh - then verily (they will know that) Allah is ever Seer of His slaves.” (35:45) May Allah bless me and you through the Great Qur'an, and benefit me and you with what is in it. “This (which) We recite unto thee is a revelation and a wise reminder.” (3:58) I say what you hear, and I seek the forgiveness of Allah for myself and for you. So seek His forgiveness, for how successful are those who seek forgiveness! Praise be to Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. To proceed, O servants of Allah: When the believer realizes that Allah, the Majestic, is characterized by patience, in that He does not hasten to take vengeance upon the disobedient, but grants them respite for a known time, this has great effects on his life. It opens for him the door of hope, urges him to turn back to Allah, and prevents him from despairing of the mercy and pardon of Allah. Thus, he hastens to repent whenever he sins or falls short in the right of Allah. At the same time, he realizes that the patience of Allah is a respite, not neglect. And he realizes at the same time that the patience of Allah is a respite, not neglect. Among the effects of believing in the name of Allah, "al-Sabur" (The Patient), is that the servant learns patience and perseverance in the worship and obedience of Allah according to what He has legislated. He, glory be to Him, said: ﴾O you who have believed, endure and endure more and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful.﴿ [Note: The verse text was provided in the input; the translation follows the standard meaning.] [Note: The verse text was provided in the input; the translation follows the standard meaning.] So He, glory be to Him, commanded patience regarding what pertains to Him, and perseverance against the enemies, and constancy in patience, until one makes it a habit, a companion, a friend, and a source of comfort. He, glory be to Him, has informed us that He loves the patient, and that He is with them. From this, the believer learns patience with the decrees of Allah, patience with his family, the upbringing of children, and patience in his dealings with the people around him. He, glory be to Him, said: “We never sent before thee any messengers but lo! they verily ate food and walked in the markets. And We have appointed some of you a test for others: Will ye be steadfast? And thy Lord is ever Seer.” (25:20) ﴾Will you be patient?﴿ ﴾Will you be patient?﴿ ﴾And your Lord is ever, Seeing.﴿ So adorn yourselves with patience, O servants of Allah, and live in the shade of the name of Allah, al-Sabur. It will bring you happiness in this world and on the Day of Resurrection. O Allah, grant us patience and the seeking of reward, and contentment and certainty regarding Your decrees, O Most Merciful. O Allah, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, make us among those who, when tested, are patient, when blessed, are grateful, and when they sin, seek forgiveness. O Allah, forgive our sins, conceal our faults, accept our repentance, and seal our deeds with righteousness. O Allah, You know our faults, so conceal them; You know our deeds, so accept them; and You know our needs, so fulfill them, O Fulfiller of needs. O Allah, rectify our intentions and our offspring. O Allah, make us among the people of the Qur'an, who are Your people and Your chosen ones. Conclude our lives with goodness, and make the outcomes of our affairs lead to good. O Allah, make our dwelling place pleasant, and make our final end excellent. Grant us security in our homelands, and rectify our leaders and those in authority over us. Grant victory to our soldiers on the borders, and grant victory to our oppressed brothers everywhere. O Allah, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, we love You, so do not withhold Your bounty from us because of our sins. O Allah, give us what we have wished for, and even more than we have wished for, of the good of this world and the Hereafter. We have called upon our Lord as You commanded us, so answer us as You promised us. Do not deprive us of the best of what You have because of the worst of what we have, and do not deprive us of Your bounty because of our sins. “Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him)” (37:180) And peace be upon the messengers, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
