Pause and identify the Companions, scholars, and prominent figures. A new challenge: Who am I? I am the paternal aunt of the Prophet, peace be upon him. And the sister of Hamza, may Allah be pleased with him. The Lion of Allah and His Messenger. And the mother of al-Zubayr, may Allah be pleased with him. The disciple of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. I am the only one among the paternal aunts of the Prophet, peace be upon him, who embraced Islam. I was known for my patience and fortitude. I raised my children to be resilient, chivalrous, and heroic. I migrated to Medina. I participated alongside the Prophet, peace be upon him, in his military expeditions. On the day of Uhud, I went out with the Muslims. I carried water, quenched the thirst of the thirsty, and sharpened arrows. After the battle ended, news reached me of the martyrdom of my brother Hamza, may Allah be pleased with him, and that his body had been mutilated. I came to see him, but the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said to my son al-Zubayr: "Meet your mother and send her back, so she does not see what has been done to her brother." My son al-Zubayr met me and said, "O mother, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, commands you to return." I replied, "And why? It has reached me that my brother has been mutilated, and that was for the sake of Allah. I shall seek reward from Allah for him, and I shall be patient, if Allah wills." This was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and he said, "Let her be." So I went to my brother Hamza, looked at him, recited the prayer of patience (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un) and prayed for his forgiveness. Then he was buried. During the Battle of the Trench, I was in the fortress of Fari'. With the women and children. A man from the Jews passed by us, and he began circling the fortress to see if there were any fighters inside. This was after the tribe of Banu Qurayza had turned hostile and severed the treaties they had with the Messenger of Allah. There was no one with us in the fortress to defend us, as the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and the Muslims were facing the enemy head-on. When I saw that, I prepared myself and took a wooden pole. Then I descended from the fortress toward him, struck him with the pole until I killed him, then I severed his head and threw it at the Jews. When they saw what had befallen their companion, they said, "We knew that Muhammad would not have left the people of the fortress without anyone to protect them." So they dispersed. I was the first woman to kill a man from the polytheists. So, who am I? If Allah wills.
