It is incumbent upon the believing servant to be content with what Allah has chosen for him and to reject what He, Glory be to Him, does not approve of.

For Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, has chosen Islam for us as a religion, as He, the Exalted, says:

“Forbidden unto you (for food) are carrion and blood and swineflesh, and that which hath been dedicated unto any other than Allah, and the strangled, and the dead through beating, and the dead through falling from a height, and that which hath been killed by (the goring of) horns, and the devoured of wild beasts, saving that which ye make lawful (by the death-stroke), and that which hath been immolated unto idols. And (forbidden is it) that ye swear by the divining arrows. This is an abomination. This day are those who disbelieve in despair of (ever harming) your religion; so fear them not, fear Me! This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion al-Islam. Whoso is forced by hunger, not by will, to sin: (for him) lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (5:3)

Thus, it is our duty to be fully content with this religion which Allah, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise, has chosen for us.

And Allah does not approve of disbelief for His servants, as He, the Exalted, says:

“If ye are thankless, yet Allah is Independent of you, though He is not pleased with thanklessness for His bondmen; and if ye are thankful He is pleased therewith for you. No laden soul will bear another's load. Then unto your Lord is your return; and He will tell you what ye used to do. Lo! He knoweth what is in the breasts (of men).” (39:7)

Therefore, it is incumbent upon the servants to oppose disbelief and not to accept its presence in life.

This pertains to what Allah approves of in terms of His religious law.

As for what Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, decrees for His servants in terms of His universal decrees:

If it is something that can be repelled through lawful means,

then one should strive to repel it, and this does not contradict being content with what Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, has decreed.

But if it is something that cannot be repelled, having already occurred, such as death or similar calamities,

then here, one must exercise patience and be content with His decree and predestination, Glory be to Him.
