The essence of the concepts of Ahl al-Sunnah The reality of the triumph of truth over falsehood Some people understand that the triumph of truth over falsehood is limited to its tangible victory through the defeat of falsehood on the battlefield. But the reality of victory is steadfastness upon the truth during times of trials and the dominance of falsehood, and sacrificing in the way of Allah the Almighty with wealth and self, without any compromise on the truth or appeasement of falsehood. The clearest example of this type of victory is the great success achieved by the People of the Ditch. Through their steadfastness upon the truth until they were burned, and on the apparent level, falsehood triumphed over them by burning Allah's awliya' (friends/protectors), may He be glorified. But the reality is that their steadfastness, in the scales of Allah the Almighty, is the ultimate success and the pinnacle of victory. Allah the Exalted said about the believers who were burned in the ditch: “Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success.” (85:11) "That is the great attainment." And He said about falsehood and its people who tortured the awliya' “Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning.” (85:10) “Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning.” (85:10)
