The Garden of Guidance. Allah, Almighty and Glorious, said: “This it is which Allah announceth unto His bondmen who believe and do good works. Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee therefor, save lovingkindness among kinsfolk. And whoso scoreth a good deed We add unto its good for him. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Responsive.” (42:23) “This it is which Allah announceth unto His bondmen who believe and do good works. When al-Bukhari narrated from Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that he was asked regarding His saying: “This it is which Allah announceth unto His bondmen who believe and do good works. Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee therefor, save lovingkindness among kinsfolk. And whoso scoreth a good deed We add unto its good for him. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Responsive.” (42:23) Sa'id ibn Jubayr said: "It means closeness to the family of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him." "Closeness to the family of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him." Ibn 'Abbas replied: "You have jumped to a conclusion. Indeed, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was related to every single clan of Quraysh without exception." So he said: "Except that you maintain the ties of kinship between me and you." Narrated by al-Bukhari. And this—Allah knows best—perhaps resembles what Moses, peace be upon him, said to his people: “And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death.” (44:20) “And if ye put no faith in me, then let me go.” (44:21)
