He did not enter Medina until the Prophet, peace be upon him, permitted him.

In the ninth year of the Hijrah,

my father died.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, clothed him in his own shirt,

prayed the funeral prayer over him,

and sought forgiveness for him out of honor for me.

Then Allah revealed His saying:

“And never (O Muhammad) pray for one of them who dieth, nor stand by his grave. Lo! they disbelieved in Allah and His messenger, and they died while they were evil-doers.” (9:84)
