WEBVTT 00:00:00.400 --> 00:00:03.459 In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. 00:00:03.459 --> 00:00:07.349 I do not know where this feeling comes from. 00:00:07.349 --> 00:00:09.830 I do not know what its cause is. 00:00:09.830 --> 00:00:12.050 I do not know its symptoms. 00:00:12.050 --> 00:00:14.050 I do not know its remedy. 00:00:14.050 --> 00:00:18.530 But pause for a moment and reflect. 00:00:18.530 --> 00:00:21.019 As long as you are holding yourself to account, 00:00:21.519 --> 00:00:23.519 then distance from Allah the Exalted, 00:00:23.519 --> 00:00:25.519 and the feeling of that distance, 00:00:25.519 --> 00:00:29.519 only arises from being away from the places of worship. 00:00:29.519 --> 00:00:32.750 For whoever is infrequent in prayer, 00:00:32.750 --> 00:00:34.750 and infrequent in prostration, 00:00:34.750 --> 00:00:36.750 and whose sins are many, 00:00:36.750 --> 00:00:38.750 and whose transgressions are grave, 00:00:38.750 --> 00:00:41.750 will experience this feeling of distance. 00:00:41.750 --> 00:00:43.939 The symptoms of this are: 00:00:43.939 --> 00:00:46.939 a feeling of hardness in the heart, 00:00:46.939 --> 00:00:50.939 a rebellion against complying with acts of obedience at their appointed times, 00:00:51.439 --> 00:00:53.439 a weakness in the soul, 00:00:53.439 --> 00:00:56.439 and a lethargy in one's longing for Allah the Exalted. 00:00:56.439 --> 00:00:58.570 And at times, 00:00:58.570 --> 00:01:02.659 an arrogance toward the Bestower, Glorified and Exalted is He. 00:01:02.659 --> 00:01:05.819 These are all symptoms of distance. 00:01:05.819 --> 00:01:07.819 As for the cure and the remedy, 00:01:07.819 --> 00:01:11.890 they are sessions of obedience that the body requires, 00:01:11.890 --> 00:01:14.890 doses of faith, 00:01:14.890 --> 00:01:16.890 and injections of spiritual tonics, 00:01:16.890 --> 00:01:18.890 to be administered to the dormant conscience, 00:01:19.390 --> 00:01:25.390 making a person vigilant and eager to act in proximity to Allah the Almighty. 00:01:25.390 --> 00:01:28.519 It makes them breathe the faith 00:01:28.519 --> 00:01:34.519 of which they were deprived throughout the period of estrangement and distance between them and their Creator, the Exalted. 00:01:34.519 --> 00:01:38.549 He is near to them in prostration, 00:01:38.549 --> 00:01:43.579 and they see Him through the channels of connection throughout the day and night, 00:01:43.579 --> 00:01:47.579 which the worshiper transmits via the device of prayer, 00:01:48.079 --> 00:01:51.079 as well as through the ether waves 00:01:51.079 --> 00:01:56.079 sent by the live broadcast from the tongue of the one who remembers Allah the Exalted, 00:01:56.079 --> 00:02:00.079 through glorification, declaring His oneness, and magnifying Him, 00:02:00.079 --> 00:02:03.370 and through seeking forgiveness, gratitude, and intimate supplication. 00:02:03.370 --> 00:02:06.370 So, you who seek the proximity of Allah the Exalted, 00:02:06.370 --> 00:02:09.370 and the proximity of His Messenger, peace be upon him, 00:02:09.370 --> 00:02:12.370 be prostrate at His door, the Exalted, 00:02:12.370 --> 00:02:17.400 connected to every network that links you to discourse and intimate supplication. 00:02:17.900 --> 00:02:19.900 The network of prostration 00:02:19.900 --> 00:02:26.930 is the closest connection network that links you to the outer stations leading to Allah the Exalted, 00:02:26.930 --> 00:02:29.930 which cannot be reached 00:02:29.930 --> 00:02:32.960 except through this network. 00:02:32.960 --> 00:02:35.960 For it is narrated that Rabi'ah ibn Ka'b said: 00:02:35.960 --> 00:02:38.960 "I used to spend the night with the Prophet, peace be upon him, 00:02:38.960 --> 00:02:41.960 bringing him his water for ablution and his needs." 00:02:41.960 --> 00:02:44.960 He said, "Ask of me." 00:02:45.460 --> 00:02:48.460 I said, "I ask for your companionship in Paradise." 00:02:48.460 --> 00:02:51.460 He said, "Is there anything else?" 00:02:51.460 --> 00:02:54.060 I said, "That is it." 00:02:54.060 --> 00:02:59.479 He said, "Then help me against your own self by performing many prostrations." 00:02:59.479 --> 00:03:02.479 So why the distance, and why the abandonment? 00:03:02.479 --> 00:03:04.479 Why this coldness? 00:03:04.479 --> 00:03:07.979 When proximity to Him, the Exalted, is possible and attainable. 00:03:07.979 --> 00:03:10.479 Between you and Allah the Exalted 00:03:10.979 --> 00:03:16.479 is a prostration through which you enter a world of delight and absolute happiness, 00:03:16.479 --> 00:03:19.009 and refined sensations. 00:03:19.009 --> 00:03:24.009 The soul is renewed and returns to its Creator, Glorified and Exalted is He, 00:03:24.009 --> 00:03:26.009 and connects with Him, 00:03:26.009 --> 00:03:29.009 and its energy and resolve are renewed, 00:03:29.009 --> 00:03:31.009 and its strength returns, 00:03:31.009 --> 00:03:34.009 like a charger for an empty battery; 00:03:34.009 --> 00:03:36.009 when it is connected to the charger, 00:03:36.009 --> 00:03:39.009 its power is renewed once again. 00:03:39.009 --> 00:03:41.009 Likewise, our souls 00:03:41.009 --> 00:03:43.009 are in need of charging, 00:03:43.009 --> 00:03:46.009 to return strong once again, 00:03:46.009 --> 00:03:49.229 to resume their work once again. 00:03:49.229 --> 00:03:53.229 So, you who find yourself distant from Allah the Exalted, 00:03:53.229 --> 00:03:55.229 hold fast to prostration, 00:03:55.229 --> 00:03:57.300 hold fast to prostration, 00:03:57.300 --> 00:04:02.300 and you will find proximity to Allah the Exalted in its greatest form.
