In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The story of our mother Hawwa (Eve).
Hawwa does not act arrogantly toward the truth.
Allah the Almighty says:
﴾And [mention] when We said to the angels,
"Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated,
except for Iblis; he refused.﴿
“And when We said unto the angels: Prostrate yourselves before Adam, they fell prostrate, all save Iblis. He demurred through pride, and so became a disbeliever.” (2:34)
When Allah created Adam,
He commanded His angels to prostrate to him as an act of honor and veneration.
Iblis refused to prostrate,
out of arrogance against the command of Allah.
So why did Iblis act arrogantly toward Adam?
Allah the Almighty explains in another place in the Qur'an
the reason for Iblis's arrogance.
He said:
﴾[Allah] said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?"﴿
﴾[Iblis] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire
and created him from clay."﴿
And Allah the Almighty said:
“He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered!” (15:33)
“He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered!” (15:33)
Thus, the reason that prevented Iblis from prostrating,
and led him to act arrogantly against the command of Allah,
was the corrupt comparison between the nature of his own creation
and the nature of Adam's creation.
As for the angels,
when they were commanded to prostrate,
they prostrated in obedience to Allah.
Ibn Jarir al-Tabari, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
The prostration of the angels to Adam
was an honoring of Adam and an act of obedience to Allah,
not an act of worship toward Adam.
Qatadah said:
It was obedience to Allah,
and the prostration was toward Adam.
Allah honored Adam by having the angels prostrate to him.
In this, there is a benefit:
that when the angels obeyed Allah in what He commanded them regarding the prostration to Adam,
they did not look at the material from which they were created,
nor did they look at his work, but rather they focused on the command of Allah.
Their status was elevated.
As for Iblis,
when he disobeyed Allah
and did not prostrate to Adam out of arrogance,
the curse fell upon him,
and he was expelled from the mercy of Allah.
Likewise, it is said to the woman:
that when Allah commanded her to submit to her husband,
and to obey him in what he commands her of that which is obedience or permissible,
there is elevation for her if she complies.
But if she disobeys her husband,
she has shared in the trait of Iblis's disobedience,
which is refusal and arrogance.
For nothing truly prevents her from compliance
except for arrogance.
Indeed, a woman's arrogance and her refusal to comply with her husband
leads to belittling him and dismissing his opinion,
and consequently, belittling the rulings of the Sharia,
whether she realizes it or not.
Al-Qurtubi, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
Regarding the saying of Allah the Almighty:
﴾And he was arrogant,﴿
"Arrogance" means considering oneself superior.
It is as if he disliked the prostration in his own estimation,
and considered it too great a thing to do for Adam.
Thus, the refusal to prostrate to Adam
was a dismissal of Allah's command and His wisdom.
Regarding this arrogance, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, expressed:
"No one shall enter Paradise who has in his heart
a mustard seed's weight of arrogance."
A man said:
"A man likes his garment to be fine and his sandals to be fine."
He said: "Allah is Beautiful and loves beauty.
Arrogance is rejecting the truth and looking down upon people."

The meaning of "rejecting the truth" (batr al-haqq)
is to dismiss it and invalidate it.
And "looking down upon people" (ghamtu al-nas)
is to belittle them and hold them in contempt.
Everyone who dismisses any of the commands of Allah the Almighty,
or the commands of His Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,
his ruling is the same as his [Iblis's].
And this is a matter upon which there is no disagreement.
Muhammad Rashid Rida, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
"Arrogance" (istikbar) means haughtiness,
which is appearing with the attribute of pride,
the effects of which include turning away from the truth.
So let the woman be wary of that,
for the beginning of arrogance in a woman's soul
arises from her feeling
that she has a merit over the man that prevents her from yielding to him.
And this is what happened to Iblis.
Al-Qurtubi, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said:
He used to see for himself
that he had a merit over the angels because of what he possessed.
Therefore he said:
"I am better than him."
And that is why Allah the Almighty said:
“He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both My hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted?” (38:75)
"When I created with My [own] hands."
“He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both My hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted?” (38:75)
Meaning: You acted arrogantly, yet you have no grounds for arrogance.
And I did not act arrogantly when I created him with My hands.
Pride belongs to Me.
Therefore He said:
﴾And he was among the disbelievers.﴿
Al-Shinqiti, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
Everyone who rejects the texts of revelation using [corrupt] analogies,
his predecessor in that is Iblis.
And this analogy of Iblis, may Allah curse him,
is invalid for three reasons:
The first is that it is a corrupt consideration,
because it contradicts the explicit text.
So the woman who measures the texts with her own intellect
falls into what Iblis fell into: rejecting the truth and acting arrogantly toward it.
If Iblis approached the man
through the door of rejecting Allah's honoring of the woman,
then he approaches the woman through the door of rejecting Allah's favoring of the man.
And whoever responds to him,
the destruction of the family will be at their hands.
