The guidance of the predecessors in dealing with the Qur’an
They were not the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace

Nor just understanding its meanings and contemplating it
Rather, they add to all of that
Take care to do what is required

Ibn Masoud said
If a man learns ten verses, he is one of us
He didn't get past them until he knew
Their meanings and working with them
Abdullah Ibn Omar said
We spent a while alone
So that faith comes before the Qur’an
He recites the surah to Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace
So we learn what is permissible and what is forbidden
He commanded and rebuked her
And he should not stop at it
As one of you learns the surah
I have seen men, one of whom was killed
The Qur’an before faith
Read from its opening to its conclusion
He does not know what is permissible or forbidden
Neither his command nor his wife
Nor should he stop him from it
It is sprinkled with prose
