Solve this riddle: Who am I?
I was a rabbi among the rabbis of the Jews.
And a scholar among their scholars.
I am a descendant of Joseph, son of Jacob.
Son of Isaac, son of Abraham, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon them all.
The people of Medina, despite their various religions and sects,
Used to honor and revere me.
After I embraced Islam, I became one of the closest companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
My name during the Age of Ignorance was Husayn.
Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, changed my name.
And he bore witness that I would enter Paradise.
I knew that this was the time of a prophet.
And I was awaiting his mission.
When the Prophet, peace be upon him, arrived in Medina,
People rushed toward him.
I was among those who came to him.
When I looked closely at his face,
I knew that his face was not the face of a liar.
The first thing I heard him say was:
"O people, spread peace (salam),
Feed the hungry,
Maintain ties of kinship,
And pray at night while people are sleeping,
You will enter Paradise in peace."
Then I came to the Prophet, peace be upon him,
And I asked him about things that only a prophet would know.
He answered them for me.
So I embraced Islam,
And I bore witness that there is no god but Allah,
And that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
Then I said,
"O Messenger of Allah,
The Jews are a people of slander.
If they learn of my Islam, they will slander me before you.
So send for them and ask them about me."
The Prophet, peace be upon him, sent for them,
And asked them about me while I was behind a curtain.
They said,
"He is the best of us and the son of the best of us,
Our scholar and the son of our scholar,
Our most learned in fiqh and the son of our most learned in fiqh."
He said,
"What do you think if he embraces Islam?
Will you embrace Islam?"
They said,
"May Allah protect him from that!"
Then I came out to them and said,
"I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,
And that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."
They said to me,
"You are the worst of us and the son of the worst of us,
Our most ignorant and the son of our most ignorant."
So I said,
"This is what I feared from them, O Messenger of Allah."
Then Allah revealed regarding us:
“Bethink you: If it is from Allah and ye disbelieve therein, and a witness of the Children of Israel hath already testified to the like thereof and hath believed, and ye are too proud (what plight is yours)? Lo! Allah guideth not wrong-doing folk.” (46:10)

I once had a dream,
And I narrated it to the Prophet, peace be upon him.
I said,
"I saw that I was in a green garden,
In the middle of which was an iron pillar,
Its base was in the earth,
And its top was in the sky.
At its top was a handle.
It was said to me,
'Climb it.'
So I climbed until I took hold of the handle.
It was said,
'Hold fast to the handle.'
I woke up, and it was still in my hand."
When morning came,
I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
And I narrated it to him.
He said,
"As for the garden,
It is the garden of Islam.
As for the pillar,
It is the pillar of Islam.
And as for the handle,
It is the firmest handle (al-'urwah al-wuthqa).
You will remain upon Islam until you die."
