00:00:01.419 --> 00:00:07.419
The story of the Hajj of our mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her.

00:00:07.419 --> 00:00:12.660
Staying overnight in Muzdalifah.

00:00:12.660 --> 00:00:14.660
And Sawdah’s request for permission.

00:00:14.660 --> 00:00:16.660
To depart during the night.

00:00:16.660 --> 00:00:19.899
The day of ‘Arafah had passed.

00:00:19.899 --> 00:00:21.899
And the sun had set.

00:00:21.899 --> 00:00:24.899
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, departed.

00:00:24.899 --> 00:00:26.899
Accompanied by the Mothers of the Believers.

00:00:26.899 --> 00:00:28.899
Toward Muzdalifah.

00:00:28.899 --> 00:00:31.030
When he arrived at Muzdalifah.

00:00:31.030 --> 00:00:34.030
He prayed Maghrib and ‘Isha.

00:00:34.030 --> 00:00:37.030
However, our mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her,

00:00:37.030 --> 00:00:39.030
Did not pray with them.

00:00:39.030 --> 00:00:41.030
Because she had not yet become pure.

00:00:41.030 --> 00:00:44.289
In the last third of the night.

00:00:44.289 --> 00:00:46.289
And after the moon had set.

00:00:46.289 --> 00:00:49.289
The Prophet, peace be upon him, sent off.

00:00:49.289 --> 00:00:52.289
The vulnerable members of his household to Mina.

00:00:52.289 --> 00:00:55.289
Among them were Umm Salamah and Umm Habibah.

00:00:55.289 --> 00:00:59.289
From the Mothers of the Believers, may Allah be pleased with them.

00:00:59.289 --> 00:01:02.320
So the Mother of the Believers, Sawdah, requested.

00:01:02.320 --> 00:01:04.319
To depart with them.

00:01:04.319 --> 00:01:07.319
And he granted her permission, may Allah be pleased with her.

00:01:07.319 --> 00:01:10.540
Our mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

00:01:10.540 --> 00:01:13.540
We arrived at Muzdalifah.

00:01:13.540 --> 00:01:16.540
Then Sawdah asked the Prophet, peace be upon him, for permission.

00:01:16.540 --> 00:01:18.540
To depart before him.

00:01:18.540 --> 00:01:20.540
And before the crush of the people.

00:01:20.540 --> 00:01:23.540
She was a slow-moving woman.

00:01:23.540 --> 00:01:25.540
So he granted her permission.

00:01:25.540 --> 00:01:28.540
And she departed before the crush of the people.

00:01:28.540 --> 00:01:31.540
We remained until morning.

00:01:31.540 --> 00:01:33.540
Then we departed when he departed.

00:01:33.540 --> 00:01:38.700
Had I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, for permission.

00:01:38.700 --> 00:01:40.700
Just as Sawdah had asked.

00:01:40.700 --> 00:01:43.700
It would have been dearer to me than anything I could be happy about.

00:01:43.700 --> 00:01:47.280
Sending the vulnerable ahead to Mina.

00:01:47.280 --> 00:01:49.280
In the last third of the night.

00:01:49.280 --> 00:01:53.280
Its goal is for them to arrive before the crush of the people.

00:01:53.280 --> 00:01:57.280
The intent is to ease the burden of the crowds upon them.

00:01:57.280 --> 00:02:00.280
So they arrive at Mina before the people.

00:02:00.280 --> 00:02:02.280
Then they pray Fajr.

00:02:02.280 --> 00:02:07.280
After which they head to the Jamrat al-‘Aqabah al-Kubra to stone it.

00:02:07.280 --> 00:02:11.280
As our mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

00:02:11.280 --> 00:02:17.280
I wish I had asked the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, for permission.

00:02:17.280 --> 00:02:19.280
Just as Sawdah had asked him.

00:02:19.280 --> 00:02:21.280
So that I could pray the morning prayer in Mina.

00:02:21.280 --> 00:02:25.280
And stone the Jamrah before the people arrived.

00:02:25.280 --> 00:02:27.280
It was said to ‘Aishah:

00:02:28.280 --> 00:02:30.280
Did Sawdah ask for permission?

00:02:30.280 --> 00:02:32.280
She said: Yes.

00:02:32.280 --> 00:02:36.280
She was a heavy, slow-moving woman.

00:02:36.280 --> 00:02:40.280
So she asked the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, for permission.

00:02:40.280 --> 00:02:42.280
And he granted it to her.

00:02:42.280 --> 00:02:45.280
So she prayed Fajr in Mina.

00:02:45.280 --> 00:02:48.280
And stoned the Jamrah before the people arrived.

00:02:48.280 --> 00:02:52.439
This objective is achieved and the vulnerable benefit from it.

00:02:52.439 --> 00:02:57.439
If the pilgrims commit to following the guidance of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:02:57.439 --> 00:02:59.439
By staying overnight in Muzdalifah.

00:02:59.439 --> 00:03:03.439
And restricting the night departure from it to the vulnerable.

00:03:03.439 --> 00:03:09.500
As for what pilgrims do today by not committing to staying in Muzdalifah.

00:03:09.500 --> 00:03:13.500
And limiting it to praying there and collecting pebbles.

00:03:13.500 --> 00:03:16.500
Then departing directly from there.

00:03:16.500 --> 00:03:20.500
This is a failure to implement the Prophetic guidance in Hajj.

00:03:20.500 --> 00:03:25.500
Which the Prophet, peace be upon him, emphasized by saying:

00:03:25.500 --> 00:03:28.500
"Take your rituals from me."

00:03:28.500 --> 00:03:32.500
Consequently, people crowd during departure and arrival at Mina.

00:03:32.500 --> 00:03:34.500
And during the stoning of the Jamrat.

00:03:34.500 --> 00:03:40.539
This congestion makes us think before we send the vulnerable ahead.

00:03:40.539 --> 00:03:44.539
Will departing with them at night be more difficult than them staying overnight?

00:03:44.539 --> 00:03:49.539
And will this departure truly achieve the intended ease for them?

00:03:49.539 --> 00:03:55.569
From the reality of experience over 36 consecutive Hajj seasons.

00:03:55.569 --> 00:04:02.569
We found that what people do today—violating the Sunnah regarding the overnight stay—is more harmful to the vulnerable.

00:04:02.569 --> 00:04:08.569
Departing with them from Muzdalifah at night has become more difficult for them than staying overnight.

00:04:08.569 --> 00:04:12.569
Because of this congestion caused by the pilgrims.

00:04:12.569 --> 00:04:18.569
Sending the vulnerable ahead before the crush and congestion of the people is a remaining concession.

00:04:18.569 --> 00:04:20.569
Intended to provide ease.

00:04:20.569 --> 00:04:26.569
It is not mandatory for every woman or every vulnerable person to leave.

00:04:26.569 --> 00:04:31.300
Our mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her.

00:04:31.300 --> 00:04:34.300
And steadfastness until death.

00:04:34.300 --> 00:04:38.870
It was the methodology of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them all.

00:04:38.870 --> 00:04:46.870
That if they were performing a good deed from the recommended acts of worship during the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:04:46.870 --> 00:04:53.870
And then he died while they were doing it, they would not change it until they met Allah, the Almighty.

00:04:53.870 --> 00:04:59.870
The reason for this is that they were committed to fulfilling the hadith:

00:04:59.870 --> 00:05:04.870
"The most beloved of religion to Him is that which its practitioner persists in."

00:05:04.870 --> 00:05:11.939
They also feared being among those who changed and altered things after him, peace be upon him.

00:05:12.939 --> 00:05:16.939
Even though it was a recommended act of worship.

00:05:16.939 --> 00:05:23.029
Among the most famous of those for whom this is recorded is ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr Ibn al-‘As, may Allah be pleased with them both.

00:05:23.029 --> 00:05:27.029
Who used to fast one day and break his fast the next.

00:05:27.029 --> 00:05:30.029
When he grew old and weak, he said:

00:05:30.029 --> 00:05:36.029
"Had I accepted the concession of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

00:05:36.029 --> 00:05:39.029
It would have been dearer to me than anything else.

00:05:39.029 --> 00:05:45.029
But I parted from him while on a practice I dislike to abandon for another."

00:05:45.029 --> 00:05:52.670
This methodology helps us understand the statement of our mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her:

00:05:52.670 --> 00:05:58.670
"Had I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, for permission as Sawdah did.

00:05:58.670 --> 00:06:01.670
It would have been dearer to me than anything I could be happy about."

00:06:01.670 --> 00:06:07.699
She persisted in not taking the concession to depart from Muzdalifah before dawn.

00:06:07.699 --> 00:06:12.699
Because she did not do so during the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:06:12.699 --> 00:06:16.699
Therefore, al-Qasim Ibn Muhammad Ibn Abi Bakr said:

00:06:16.699 --> 00:06:21.699
"‘Aishah would not depart except with the Imam."

00:06:21.699 --> 00:06:28.699
Even clearer than that is what Abu al-Zubayr said in his narration of the hadith of Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him.

00:06:29.699 --> 00:06:38.699
He said: "When ‘Aishah performed Hajj, she did as she had done with the Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him."

00:06:38.699 --> 00:06:44.990
From this, my sister pilgrim, we learn that if a woman performs a good deed.

00:06:44.990 --> 00:06:50.990
She should strive to persist in it as much as she is able.

00:06:50.990 --> 00:06:57.139
When did our mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, become pure?

00:06:57.139 --> 00:07:03.750
On the morning of the Day of Sacrifice, after the Prophet, peace be upon him, had stood.

00:07:03.750 --> 00:07:07.750
Along with those of the Mothers of the Believers who were with him at the Sacred Site.

00:07:07.750 --> 00:07:12.750
He set off for Mina to stone the Jamrat al-‘Aqabah al-Kubra.

00:07:12.750 --> 00:07:17.750
When they reached their quarters in Mina and after they had stoned the Jamrah.

00:07:17.750 --> 00:07:22.750
Our mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, became pure from her menses.

00:07:22.750 --> 00:07:27.750
She purified herself in preparation for going to Makkah for the Tawaf al-Ifadah.

00:07:27.750 --> 00:07:31.910
Our mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says:

00:07:31.910 --> 00:07:35.910
"We went out on his Hajj until we arrived at Mina.

00:07:35.910 --> 00:07:40.910
I became pure, then I went out from Mina and performed Tawaf around the House."

00:07:40.910 --> 00:07:43.980
Her purification from menses was in Mina.

00:07:43.980 --> 00:07:47.980
And her ritual bathing (ghusl) was also in Mina.

00:07:47.980 --> 00:07:50.980
As she, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

00:07:50.980 --> 00:07:54.980
"I went out on my Hajj until we descended at Mina.

00:07:54.980 --> 00:07:59.009
I purified myself, then we performed Tawaf around the House."

00:07:59.009 --> 00:08:04.009
This means that the cycle of our mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her.

00:08:04.009 --> 00:08:06.009
Was seven days.

00:08:06.009 --> 00:08:08.009
It began on Saturday morning.

00:08:08.009 --> 00:08:11.009
And she became pure on Saturday morning.

00:08:11.009 --> 00:08:14.009
Because the Day of Sacrifice was a Saturday.
