A verse and its Tafsir.
Allah the Exalted says:
"They shall have their reward with their Lord."
In the Qur'an, the term "reward" (ajr) is used exclusively for beneficial outcomes.
Such as the statement of Allah the Exalted:
"They shall have their reward with their Lord."
And His saying:
"Then his reward is upon Allah."
Whereas the term "recompense" (jaza') is used for both beneficial and harmful outcomes.
Such as His saying, the Exalted:
"And He will recompense them for their patience with a Garden and silk."
And His saying:
"His recompense is Hell."
