A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
Oppression carries grave consequences for the oppressor in both this world and the Hereafter.
For the oppressor, Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, leads him astray.
Allah, the Exalted, says:
"And Allah leads the wrongdoers astray."
The oppressor is cursed by Allah, the Exalted.
Allah, the Exalted, says:
“Who doeth greater wrong than he who inventeth a lie concerning Allah? Such will be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say: These are they who lied concerning their Lord. Now the curse of Allah is upon wrong-doers,” (11:18)
The oppressor is vulnerable to the supplications of the oppressed against him.
And to Allah’s response to those supplications.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"Beware of the supplication of the oppressed,"
"for there is no veil between it and Allah."
Agreed upon.
The consequence of oppression in this world is severe,
even if the oppressor is granted a period of respite.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"Indeed, Allah grants respite to the oppressor,"
"but when He seizes him, He does not let him escape."
Then he recited:
“Even thus is the grasp of thy Lord when He graspeth the townships while they are doing wrong. Lo! His grasp is painful, very strong.” (11:102)

Agreed upon.
Likewise, the consequence of oppression in the Hereafter is dire.
Allah, the Exalted, says:
"And all faces shall be humbled before the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence."
“And faces humble themselves before the Living, the Eternal. And he who beareth (a burden of) wrongdoing is indeed a failure (on that day).” (20:111)
And the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"Beware of oppression,"
"for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection."
