Surah al-Ikhlas.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
“Say: He is Allah, the One!” (112:1)
Allah is the Eternal Refuge.
“He begetteth not nor was begotten.” (112:3)
“And there is none comparable unto Him.” (112:4)
It is mentioned that the polytheists asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, about the lineage of the Lord of Might.
So Allah revealed this surah as an answer to them.
Say, O Muhammad, to these people who ask about the lineage of your Lord, His attributes, and His creation:
The Lord about whom you have asked me,
Is Allah, to whom belongs the worship of all things.
Worship is not appropriate for any but Him.
And it is not fitting for anything other than Him.
He is the Worshipped One, to whom alone worship is due.
The Master to whom all turn for their needs.
He above whom there is no one.
He is not perishable.
For everything that begets is perishable and subject to passing away.
And He is not a created being that did not exist and then came into being.
For everything born only exists after having not existed.
And it came into being after it was non-existent.
But His remembrance is eternal and has always been.
And He is everlasting, having no beginning.
He does not cease to be, nor does He perish.
And He has no likeness and no equal.
