A republic
is a state governed by the public, as they claim.
Its counterpart is a monarchy,
which is a state governed by an individual from a specific family,
namely the ruling or royal family of the state,
which passes down authority among its members.
Republics exist within democratic systems,
whereas monarchies are often found in dictatorial systems.
However, in the West, there are some monarchies with democratic systems,
where the monarch is merely a symbol of rule with limited powers.
As for actual authority,
it lies with the Prime Minister and their government, who belong to the party that won
the parliamentary elections according to the democratic system.
Examples of democratic monarchies include
England and Belgium.
All of this is in conflict with the system of governance in Islam.
