A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.

This is the first obligation upon those who are morally responsible according to the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah.
It is an innate matter upon which Allah has created mankind.
Even though faith in Allah the Exalted is an innate matter,
the theologians—
such as the Mu'tazilah, the Jahmiyyah, and some of the Ash'ariyyah—
hold the view that the first obligation upon the morally responsible person
is to engage in intellectual inquiry and logical deduction.
Some of them even claim that the first obligation is to doubt,
because it leads to the intention of inquiry.
Others make the ultimate goal and conclusion of faith
the knowledge of the created nature of the world and the pre-existence of the Creator.
All of this is false,
because the knowledge of Allah and faith in Him are rooted in the innate nature (fitrah).
Therefore, the obligation is to realize this in reality,
without the need to stipulate logical deduction as a prerequisite.
For many of the common people
do not know how to engage in deduction or inquiry, nor are they capable of it.
