A verse and its Tafsir.
Allah the Exalted says:
“Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense?” (21:67)
"Uff" (fie).
A word uttered to express aversion, annoyance, and disdain.
Al-Raghib al-Isfahani, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
The root of the word "uff" refers to:
Anything considered repulsive, such as filth, nail clippings, and the like.
It is also said regarding anything one deems insignificant out of disdain for it.
One says "I have uttered 'uff' at such-and-such"
When one says it to express disdain for that thing.
