A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah. The fruits of affirming the Oneness of Lordship (Tawhid al-Rububiyyah). Belief in the Oneness of Lordship yields numerous, magnificent fruits. Among the most important of these are: First: Defining for people the purpose for which they were created. Informing them of what benefits and harms them by receiving that guidance from their Lord. For it does not befit the Lord of the worlds to leave His servants aimless, Without teaching them what benefits them in their worldly life and their hereafter. Allah the Exalted says: “Deemed ye then that We had created you for naught, and that ye would not be returned unto Us?” (23:115) Second: Realizing the Oneness of Allah’s Names and Attributes. For the Lord must necessarily be the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, The Creator, the All-Powerful, The All-Knowing, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, the One who possesses Will. And say the same regarding all of Allah’s supreme Names and Attributes. Third: Contentment with the decree and law of Allah. Because acknowledging the Lordship of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, Is to be content with what Allah apportions to the servant and decrees for him. This also necessitates being content with what He legislates and commands, And refraining from what He forbids. Fourth: Loving Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, thanking Him, magnifying Him, and revering Him. For creation is innately disposed to love the One who sustains them, provides for them, and treats them with kindness. This instills in the servant’s heart the love of Allah, the love of what He loves, and the love of those whom He loves, As well as hatred for what He hates and those whom He hates. It leads to hastening toward His pleasure, magnifying Him, And revering, thanking, and praising Him. Fifth: Relying upon Allah in all matters. For whoever is certain that Allah is the Provider and the Disposer of affairs, “That is because Allah, He is the Truth and because He quickeneth the dead, and because He is Able to do all things;” (22:6) His heart becomes filled with reliance upon Him, glory be to Him, in all his affairs. Sixth: Turning to Allah and beseeching Him during times of hardship and calamity. Due to the certainty that He alone is the Disposer of all affairs, The One who brings benefit and causes harm, The Reliever of distress and the Fulfiller of needs.
