Pause. Get to know the Companions, the scholars, and the noble figures. A new challenge: Who am I? I am one of the female Companions who migrated. I embraced Islam at the very beginning of the Prophet’s mission, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in Makkah. I then performed both migrations. To Abyssinia and to Madinah. I prayed toward both qiblas. I was wise, eloquent, and courageous. When we were preparing to migrate to Abyssinia, my husband, ‘Amir, had gone away to attend to some business. Suddenly, ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab approached while he was still in a state of polytheism. He stood before me. We used to suffer great hardship and harm at his hands. He said, "Where are you heading, O Umm ‘Abdullah?" I replied, "By Allah, we are going to depart into the land of Allah." "For you have harmed us and oppressed us." "Until Allah grants us a way out." He said, "May Allah be with you." I noticed a sense of tenderness and sadness in him. When my husband returned, I told him about it. I said to him, "If only you had seen ‘Umar and the tenderness and sadness he showed for us." He said, "Do you hope that he will embrace Islam?" I said, "Yes." He replied, "‘Umar will not embrace Islam," "until the donkey of al-Khattab embraces Islam." This was because of the harshness and severity he saw him display toward the Muslims. Then days passed, and ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, embraced Islam. Through him, Allah strengthened Islam and the Muslims. I was the first woman to migrate to Madinah. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, used to come to visit us in our home. One day, I said to my son, ‘Abdullah, "Come here, let me give you something." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to me, "What did you intend to give him?" I said, "I was going to give him a date." He said, "Had you not given him anything," "it would have been recorded against you as a lie." So, who am I? Share your answers with us in the comments below the video. We will pin the correct answer in the comments when the next episode is released, if Allah wills. Follow the generations in their stances and examples. Follow the Messenger in what he strove for or said. They were here, watering the clouds of our lives. They passed away, yet their memory remains exalted among us. They departed, leaving a question in the conscience: Is there any star like them that has risen and shone? They filled life with pride through their deeds. And the world of mankind flourished because of them.
