Hadith and Commentary
It is narrated in a hadith recorded by al-Tabarani, which some scholars have classified as hasan (sound).
Knowledge is attained only through learning, and forbearance is attained only through practicing it.
Commentary:
The words of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, suffice in this regard:
Whoever seeks to remain chaste, Allah will make him chaste.
Whoever seeks to be self-sufficient, Allah will make him self-sufficient.
And whoever seeks to be patient, Allah will grant him patience.
It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
The meaning is that the servant must make the effort.
And it is upon Allah to bring it to completion.
