Envy
Envy is the hatred of the blessings Allah has bestowed upon others and the desire for them to be removed.
It is a chronic spiritual ailment that afflicts many people.
Its true nature is
an objection to the decree of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, and His wisdom in withholding or granting.
A person must be cautious not to become one of the envious without realizing it.
He must strive against his own self in this regard with the utmost effort.
He must arm himself with faith in the decree of Allah and His wisdom
to repel from himself any feeling of distress or constriction of the heart
when Allah bestows a blessing upon someone else,
or any feeling of joy at its removal from them.
Instead, he should strive to feel joy and contentment at the blessings Allah has bestowed upon other Muslims,
whether they are people he knows or not,
and whether they are his peers, his superiors, or his subordinates.
