The reason why the majority of those who follow falsehood are among the elite and the powerful.
It has been the established pattern that the proponents of falsehood are those who hold worldly status and power.
As Allah the Exalted says:
“And thus have We made in every city great ones of its wicked ones, that they should plot therein. They do but plot against themselves, though they perceive not.” (6:123)
Thus, they show hostility toward the religion, and the religion shows hostility toward them.
This is only because the religion begins by stripping these elites of the authority they use to dominate the people.
And by stripping them of their claims to lordship, through which they compel people to worship them.
And by stripping them of their practice of exercising sovereignty apart from Allah.
Through which they subjugate the necks of the people.
The religion strips all of this from them in order to return it to Allah alone.
The Lord of the people, the King of the people, the God of the people.
