WEBVTT 00:00:01.360 --> 00:00:12.140 Pause and reflect on the lives of the Companions, the scholars, and the prominent figures of our history. 00:00:12.140 --> 00:00:16.140 A new challenge: Who am I? 00:00:16.140 --> 00:00:22.100 I am one of the Companions from the youth of the Ansar. 00:00:22.100 --> 00:00:25.100 I witnessed the Second Pledge of al-Aqabah with my father. 00:00:25.100 --> 00:00:30.100 I was among those who attended it, and I was the last of them to pass away. 00:00:30.100 --> 00:00:33.100 I did not participate in the battles of Badr or Uhud. 00:00:33.100 --> 00:00:36.100 My father prevented me from taking part in them. 00:00:36.100 --> 00:00:39.100 This was so that I could look after my nine sisters. 00:00:39.100 --> 00:00:42.100 However, after my father was killed at Uhud, 00:00:42.100 --> 00:00:48.100 I never missed a single battle alongside the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:00:48.100 --> 00:00:53.100 I remained in the constant company of the Prophet, peace be upon him. 00:00:53.100 --> 00:00:56.100 I narrated a great deal of knowledge from him. 00:00:56.100 --> 00:00:59.100 I had a study circle in the Prophet’s Mosque, 00:00:59.100 --> 00:01:03.100 where I would teach the people and grant them understanding of their religion. 00:01:03.100 --> 00:01:07.989 I participated with the Muslims in digging the Trench. 00:01:07.989 --> 00:01:13.989 One day, I saw the Prophet, peace be upon him, suffering from severe hunger. 00:01:13.989 --> 00:01:17.989 He had tied two stones against his stomach due to the intensity of his hunger. 00:01:17.989 --> 00:01:20.989 I returned to my wife and said to her, 00:01:20.989 --> 00:01:23.989 "Do you have any food?" 00:01:23.989 --> 00:01:27.989 She brought out a pouch containing a sa' of barley. 00:01:27.989 --> 00:01:29.989 We had nothing else. 00:01:29.989 --> 00:01:32.989 We also had a small sheep. 00:01:32.989 --> 00:01:36.989 I slaughtered the sheep, and my wife ground the barley. 00:01:36.989 --> 00:01:39.989 We prepared a small amount of food. 00:01:39.989 --> 00:01:42.989 Then I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, 00:01:42.989 --> 00:01:45.989 and whispered to him, saying, 00:01:45.989 --> 00:01:49.989 "O Messenger of Allah, we have prepared some food for you, 00:01:49.989 --> 00:01:53.989 so come, you and one or two others with you." 00:01:53.989 --> 00:01:57.060 The Prophet, peace be upon him, called out, 00:01:57.060 --> 00:02:00.060 saying, "O people of the Trench, 00:02:00.060 --> 00:02:03.060 come, hurry to the food!" 00:02:03.060 --> 00:02:07.060 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said to me, 00:02:07.060 --> 00:02:10.060 "Do not take your cooking pot off the fire, 00:02:10.060 --> 00:02:14.060 and do not bake your dough until I arrive." 00:02:14.060 --> 00:02:17.120 When the Prophet, peace be upon him, came 00:02:17.120 --> 00:02:20.120 to my house, I brought out the dough for him. 00:02:20.120 --> 00:02:23.120 He spat into it and blessed it. 00:02:23.120 --> 00:02:25.120 Then he went to our cooking pot, 00:02:25.120 --> 00:02:28.120 spat into it, and blessed it. 00:02:28.120 --> 00:02:32.120 The people arrived with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him; 00:02:32.120 --> 00:02:35.120 they were a thousand men. 00:02:35.120 --> 00:02:39.120 I swear by Allah, they ate until they were full. 00:02:39.120 --> 00:02:41.120 Then they departed, 00:02:41.120 --> 00:02:44.120 yet our pot was as full as it had been, 00:02:44.120 --> 00:02:47.120 and our dough was still being baked just as it was. 00:02:47.120 --> 00:02:51.400 We were returning from the Battle of Dhat al-Riqa' 00:02:51.400 --> 00:02:55.400 to Medina with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. 00:02:55.400 --> 00:02:58.400 I was riding a weak camel of mine 00:02:58.400 --> 00:03:01.400 that had exhausted me during the journey. 00:03:01.400 --> 00:03:04.400 I kept falling behind the caravan. 00:03:04.400 --> 00:03:07.400 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, caught up with me 00:03:07.400 --> 00:03:10.400 and asked, "What is the matter with you?" 00:03:10.400 --> 00:03:13.400 I said, "O Messenger of Allah, 00:03:13.400 --> 00:03:16.400 this camel of mine has slowed me down." 00:03:16.400 --> 00:03:19.400 He said, "Make it kneel," so I made it kneel. 00:03:19.400 --> 00:03:22.400 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, also made his mount kneel. 00:03:23.400 --> 00:03:26.400 Then he said, "Give me that stick from your hand." 00:03:26.400 --> 00:03:29.400 I did so. 00:03:29.400 --> 00:03:32.400 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, took it 00:03:32.400 --> 00:03:35.400 and prodded the camel with it a few times. 00:03:35.400 --> 00:03:38.400 He then prayed for me. 00:03:38.400 --> 00:03:41.400 Then he said, "Ride." 00:03:41.400 --> 00:03:44.400 So I rode, 00:03:44.400 --> 00:03:47.659 and my camel moved at a pace it had never moved before. 00:03:47.659 --> 00:03:50.659 Then he, peace be upon him, said to me, 00:03:50.659 --> 00:03:53.659 "It is yours." 00:03:53.659 --> 00:03:56.659 I said, "No, rather it is yours, O Messenger of Allah." 00:03:56.659 --> 00:03:59.659 He said, "No, sell it to me." 00:03:59.659 --> 00:04:02.659 I said, "No, it is yours." 00:04:02.659 --> 00:04:05.659 He said, "No, sell it to me for an uqiyah of gold." 00:04:05.659 --> 00:04:08.659 So I sold the camel to him, 00:04:08.659 --> 00:04:11.659 on the condition that I would deliver it to him in Medina 00:04:11.659 --> 00:04:14.689 when we arrived. 00:04:14.689 --> 00:04:17.689 When we reached Medina, I brought the camel to him. 00:04:18.689 --> 00:04:21.689 He then said, "Do you think I would take 00:04:21.689 --> 00:04:24.689 your camel?
