The impact of hope and fear regarding created beings on one’s steadfastness.
When a person who possesses the truth speaks or writes,
and within his heart there is fear or hope directed toward someone other than Allah, the Almighty and Majestic,
then the truth he writes or speaks will inevitably be distorted.
This is because hope and fear for any created being pull the truth in different directions,
and thus they cause it to emerge in a distorted form.
Therefore, when a caller to the truth experiences any sense of hope or fear,
he must refrain from speaking until that feeling subsides.
Only then should he clarify the truth to the people,
so that his explanation may be free from distortion and obfuscation.
