WEBVTT 00:00:00.400 --> 00:00:03.399 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 00:00:03.399 --> 00:00:11.560 In the presence of Allah, happiness pours into the hearts. 00:00:11.560 --> 00:00:15.660 Increase your closeness to the Most Merciful. 00:00:15.660 --> 00:00:18.660 The Jami' Muhammad Ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Musa Mosque. 00:00:18.660 --> 00:00:21.660 Proudly presents: 00:00:21.660 --> 00:00:24.660 The Musk of Discourse. 00:00:24.660 --> 00:00:26.660 By Sheikh Usama Bahr. 00:00:26.660 --> 00:00:28.660 May Allah preserve him. 00:00:28.660 --> 00:00:35.659 Whoever obeys the Lord dissolves into the sweetest of feelings. 00:00:35.659 --> 00:00:37.659 People are like minerals. 00:00:37.659 --> 00:00:43.439 Understanding the nature of people is a vital matter. 00:00:43.439 --> 00:00:45.469 For through it, 00:00:45.469 --> 00:00:48.469 A person is able to interact with others 00:00:48.469 --> 00:00:51.500 According to their temperaments and their inherent natures. 00:00:51.500 --> 00:00:54.500 A mineral is that which is firmly established in the earth, 00:00:54.500 --> 00:00:56.500 As is well known. 00:00:56.500 --> 00:00:58.500 And we all know that minerals— 00:00:58.500 --> 00:01:00.500 Some are precious, 00:01:00.500 --> 00:01:02.539 And some are base. 00:01:02.539 --> 00:01:05.540 Likewise, people are like minerals. 00:01:05.540 --> 00:01:08.540 For among people are those whose nature is precious, 00:01:08.540 --> 00:01:11.540 And among people are those whose nature is base. 00:01:11.540 --> 00:01:14.540 Preciousness and baseness in the nature of people 00:01:14.540 --> 00:01:19.569 Have no relation to lineage, status, tribe, or nation. 00:01:19.569 --> 00:01:22.569 Rather, the preciousness or baseness of people 00:01:22.569 --> 00:01:25.569 Is measured by what they possess of piety and religion, 00:01:25.569 --> 00:01:27.569 And the fear of Allah, 00:01:27.569 --> 00:01:29.569 And adherence to the rulings of Islam, 00:01:29.569 --> 00:01:33.569 And the noble character and virtues they embody, 00:01:33.569 --> 00:01:35.569 Such as chastity, forbearance, and chivalry, 00:01:35.569 --> 00:01:38.569 And other praiseworthy traits. 00:01:38.569 --> 00:01:41.569 The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was asked: 00:01:41.569 --> 00:01:43.569 "Who is the most noble of people?" 00:01:43.569 --> 00:01:46.569 He said, "The most noble of them is the most pious." 00:01:46.569 --> 00:01:48.569 They said, "O Prophet of Allah, 00:01:48.569 --> 00:01:50.569 It is not about this that we ask you." 00:01:50.569 --> 00:01:54.569 He said, "Then the most noble of people is Yusuf, the Prophet of Allah, 00:01:54.569 --> 00:01:56.569 The son of the Prophet of Allah, 00:01:56.569 --> 00:01:58.569 The son of the Prophet of Allah, 00:01:58.569 --> 00:02:00.569 The son of the Friend of Allah." 00:02:00.569 --> 00:02:03.569 They said, "It is not about this that we ask you." 00:02:03.569 --> 00:02:07.569 He said, "Are you asking me about the minerals of the Arabs?" 00:02:07.569 --> 00:02:09.569 They said, "Yes." 00:02:09.569 --> 00:02:12.569 He said, "The best of you in the Age of Ignorance 00:02:12.569 --> 00:02:15.569 Are the best of you in Islam, if they attain understanding." 00:02:15.569 --> 00:02:17.569 Indeed, the Noble Qur'an 00:02:17.569 --> 00:02:20.569 Has categorized people and defined their natures. 00:02:20.569 --> 00:02:22.569 For example, Surat al-Baqarah, 00:02:22.569 --> 00:02:25.569 Which is the longest surah of the Qur'an, 00:02:25.569 --> 00:02:28.569 Divided people into three categories: 00:02:28.569 --> 00:02:30.569 Groups that believe in Allah, 00:02:30.569 --> 00:02:32.569 Others who are disbelievers, 00:02:32.569 --> 00:02:36.569 And a third group that is confused, hesitant, and deceptive— 00:02:36.569 --> 00:02:38.569 They are the hypocrites. 00:02:38.569 --> 00:02:40.569 As mentioned in the same surah, 00:02:40.569 --> 00:02:43.569 There is a clarification that people are like minerals. 00:02:43.569 --> 00:02:45.569 For the Almighty said: 00:02:45.569 --> 00:02:50.569 “Yet of mankind are some who take unto themselves (objects of worship which they set as) rivals to Allah, loving them with a love like (that which is the due) of Allah (only) - those who believe are stauncher in their love for Allah - Oh, that those who do evil had but known, (on the day) when they behold the doom, that power belongeth wholly to Allah, and that Allah is severe in punishment!” (2:165) 00:02:51.569 --> 00:02:56.569 "They love them as they love Allah." 00:02:56.569 --> 00:02:58.569 And He also said: 00:02:58.569 --> 00:03:01.569 “And of mankind there is he whoso conversation on the life of this world pleaseth thee (Muhammad), and he calleth Allah to witness as to that which is in his heart; yet he is the most rigid of opponents.” (2:204) 00:03:01.569 --> 00:03:04.569 "His speech in the life of this world." 00:03:04.569 --> 00:03:08.569 “And of mankind there is he whoso conversation on the life of this world pleaseth thee (Muhammad), and he calleth Allah to witness as to that which is in his heart; yet he is the most rigid of opponents.” (2:204) 00:03:08.569 --> 00:03:12.569 "And he is the fiercest of opponents." 00:03:12.569 --> 00:03:14.569 And He said: 00:03:14.569 --> 00:03:17.569 “And when ye have completed your devotions, then remember Allah as ye remember your fathers or with a more lively remembrance. But of mankind is he who saith: "Our Lord! Give unto us in the world," and he hath no portion in the Hereafter.” (2:200) 00:03:17.569 --> 00:03:19.569 "Our Lord, give us 00:03:19.569 --> 00:03:21.569 In this world." 00:03:21.569 --> 00:03:26.629 “And when ye have completed your devotions, then remember Allah as ye remember your fathers or with a more lively remembrance. But of mankind is he who saith: "Our Lord! Give unto us in the world," and he hath no portion in the Hereafter.” (2:200) 00:03:26.629 --> 00:03:29.629 All of this is a mention of the natures of people 00:03:29.629 --> 00:03:34.629 According to their closeness or distance from the religion of Allah, the Almighty. 00:03:34.629 --> 00:03:36.629 So if you have learned this, 00:03:36.629 --> 00:03:39.629 Then strive to ensure your nature is like gold, 00:03:39.629 --> 00:03:41.629 Especially in these days, 00:03:41.629 --> 00:03:43.629 For the price of gold is rising, 00:03:43.629 --> 00:03:46.629 And its value increases every day. 00:03:46.629 --> 00:03:55.659 In the presence of Allah, happiness pours into the hearts. 00:03:55.659 --> 00:03:59.659 Increase your closeness to the Most Merciful, 00:03:59.659 --> 00:04:03.659 So that joy may embrace you. 00:04:03.659 --> 00:04:07.659 Attach your soul to your Lord, 00:04:07.659 --> 00:04:11.659 And fill the surroundings with light. 00:04:11.659 --> 00:04:14.659 Everyone who obeys the Lord 00:04:14.659 --> 00:04:18.660 Dissolves into the sweetest of feelings. 00:04:18.660 --> 00:04:22.939 Darkness, then light, 00:04:22.939 --> 00:04:26.939 And revelation follows it. 00:04:26.939 --> 00:04:30.939 If Allah wills a thing, 00:04:30.939 --> 00:04:35.939 He says to it, "Be," and it is.
