peace be upon him, arrived in Medina, 00:01:04.629 --> 00:01:10.629 he established treaties and covenants between himself and its inhabitants, both Jews and polytheists. 00:01:10.629 --> 00:01:13.629 However, some of these fools 00:01:13.629 --> 00:01:16.629 did not respond to this noble treatment. 00:01:16.629 --> 00:01:19.629 Instead, they showed hostility toward the people of faith. 00:01:19.629 --> 00:01:22.629 Among them was Ka‘b ibn al-Ashraf the Jew. 00:01:22.629 --> 00:01:25.629 He persisted in his transgression, 00:01:25.629 --> 00:01:29.629 and no moral restraint or covenant could deter him. 00:01:29.629 --> 00:01:31.629 This hostility increased 00:01:32.629 --> 00:01:37.629 when he saw the polytheist captives at Badr bound in chains. 00:01:37.629 --> 00:01:40.629 He began to openly display his enmity toward the Muslims, 00:01:40.629 --> 00:01:43.629 mourning the polytheists killed at Badr. 00:01:43.629 --> 00:01:48.629 Then, he went to Mecca to console the polytheists with his poetry, 00:01:48.629 --> 00:01:51.629 urging them to fight the Muslims. 00:01:51.629 --> 00:01:54.859 Afterward, he returned to Medina. 00:01:54.859 --> 00:01:58.859 --> 00:02:38.889 "You are only responsible for your best effort and what you are capable of." 00:02:38.889 --> 00:02:41.889 He had consulted Sa‘d ibn Mu‘adh regarding the matter, 00:02:41.889 --> 00:02:43.889 and I had consulted him as well. 00:02:43.889 --> 00:02:46.889 Then, I gathered with a group of the Aws, 00:02:46.889 --> 00:02:48.889 among them ‘Abbad ibn Bishr 00:02:48.889 --> 00:02:50.889 and Abu Na’ilah. 00:02:50.889 --> 00:02:54.889 We agreed upon a plan to get to the Jew, Ka‘b. 00:02:55.889 --> 00:02:58.889 Then we came to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, 00:02:58.889 --> 00:03:01.889 and said, "O Messenger of Allah, 00:03:01.889 --> 00:03:03.889 we will kill him, 00:03:03.889 --> 00:03:07.889 so permit us to speak disparagingly of the Muslims and fortified, splendid, and ancient city 00:13:13.000 --> 00:13:17.000 in which Hormuzan, the commander of the Persians, had entrenched himself. 00:13:17.000 --> 00:13:21.000 The Muslim armies had encamped around the trench of Tustar 00:13:21.000 --> 00:13:26.000 and remained for eighteen months unable to cross it, 00:13:26.000 --> 00:13:31.000 fighting eighty battles against the Persian armies and he led me into an underground tunnel connecting the river to the city. 00:14:22.450 --> 00:14:30.450 I moved along, sometimes walking, sometimes crawling, sometimes slithering, and at other times and I said to her, 00:31:18.980 --> 00:31:20.980 "Leave the orchard, 00:31:20.980 --> 00:31:22.980 and take the children out, 00:31:22.980 --> 00:31:27.009 for I have sold it for a date palm in
