Allah the Almighty says:
Successful indeed are the believers.
“Who are humble in their prayers,” (23:2)
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
The delight of my eyes has been placed in prayer.
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
For the one whose delight is placed in prayer,
How could his eyes find comfort without it?
And how could he bear to be patient while away from it?
The prayer of such a person, who is present with his heart,
And whose eyes find delight in the prayer,
Is the one that ascends,
Possessing light and clear proof,
Until it is received by the Most Merciful, the Almighty and Majestic,
Who then says:
May Allah preserve you as you have preserved me.
Imam Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
True khushu' (humility) in prayer
Is only attained by one who empties his heart for it,
Occupies himself with it to the exclusion of all else,
And prefers it over everything else.
Only then
Does it become a source of rest and a delight for his eyes.
